darraghmac, Friday, 12 October 2007 13:50 (sixteen years ago) link

um, much longer than ten minutes ago, now that i check. i'm dipping in and out every half hour or so.

darraghmac, Friday, 12 October 2007 13:51 (sixteen years ago) link

ha, maybe onimo can tell me whether that's the right technique or not!

darraghmac, Friday, 12 October 2007 13:52 (sixteen years ago) link

Ho ho, dipping.

What the hell is wrong with you that you don't want to read about lovely, sticky pools of life-giving semen on your lunchbreak?

accentmonkey, Friday, 12 October 2007 13:52 (sixteen years ago) link

on my LUNCH?? oh sorry..

darraghmac, Friday, 12 October 2007 13:53 (sixteen years ago) link

alright, now you've just made it ugh.

Someone give me the will to work which doesn't involve going somewhere for a latte.

Misery, Friday, 12 October 2007 13:53 (sixteen years ago) link

Dude you can even contemplate drinking a latte after the conversation on this thread?? You're sick!!!

Sarah, Friday, 12 October 2007 13:54 (sixteen years ago) link

I bet no-one will be having tea tonight that features tzatziki! Or mayonnaise!! HAHAHAHA. MAN!

Sarah, Friday, 12 October 2007 13:55 (sixteen years ago) link

Actually I just checked the watercooler and last post was Forest Pines talking about railways. Kate hasn't posted for over a month, last seen heading to a JAMC concert.

SAM DO SOME WORK THEN YOU CAN REWARD YOURSELF WITH CAKE AND BEER WHEN YOU GET HOME :-)

ailsa, Friday, 12 October 2007 13:55 (sixteen years ago) link

Just checked the stats. I am now thoroughly depressed:

kv_nol 263
Ned Raggett 257

I weep for my lost productivity.

Hmm. Perhaps some salty gruel with extra gelatin.

Okay, this has reached a LEVEL. I am going back to work.

accentmonkey, Friday, 12 October 2007 13:57 (sixteen years ago) link

I am home, ailsa! (also it's not even 9. too early to be thinking about beer)

Sorry the semen wasn't really on my mind as much as the crippling lethargy and kitten jaws.

Misery, Friday, 12 October 2007 13:58 (sixteen years ago) link

I forgot about time differences meant work hard and then you can relax into the weekend knowing you've done your work.

ailsa, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:00 (sixteen years ago) link

Did Kate leave ILX for good, or is she one some adventure?

Rock Hardy, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:00 (sixteen years ago) link

xpost

I like to pretend you guys are serious partiers and out drinking and watching sports in the middle of the day. Don't ruin my image of you.

Put down the internets and write a zine, you lazy bum!

Rock Hardy, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:02 (sixteen years ago) link

xpost, we often are :-)

ailsa, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:03 (sixteen years ago) link

And on that note, I am off into town to go to the bank and other such unexciting tasks. Though I may go for a pint while I'm there :-)

ailsa, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:04 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm going to go shove some chicken-flavored (I almost put a "u" in there, you bastards) liquid down a cat's throat. Then shower and get dressed.

If you see me here in the next twenty minutes or so, I have failed and succumbed to the tar pits.

Misery, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:04 (sixteen years ago) link

have a good weekend, non-specificers.

ailsa, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:05 (sixteen years ago) link

kv_nol, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:07 (sixteen years ago) link

I should write something, sometime.

I've just realised my boss's boss is a ringer for author Harry Turtledove.

onimo, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:10 (sixteen years ago) link

Writing is so much harder than I thought it would be! Also way more stressful. I kept thinking I should be apologising throughout the article.

kv_nol, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:13 (sixteen years ago) link

Apologising for what?

onimo, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:14 (sixteen years ago) link

Kev_Dude, being a member of the Super Secret FA Club means never having to say you're sorry. Accentmonkey will confirm. We all have big metaphorical balls that we swing at each other's heads like a sock with a bar of soap in the toe.

Rock Hardy, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:15 (sixteen years ago) link

Onimo -- kev has joined a legendary group of internet hardmen that accentmonkey and I (and DV) are members of, and he's intimidated by all the gloriousness radiating off of us.

Rock Hardy, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:17 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh I am just watching lots of youtube pop videos, this is better than working.

I have eaten SO many birthday M&S mini-bites that I feel sick!! I now don't think I can FACE making cake icing tonight else I will end up eating MORE sugar and possibly die!!

xpost: I thought about joining YOUR GROUP once (I assume it is the same one) but then forgot to write stuff! I saw T0m E's copy once. Heigh ho!

Sarah, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:18 (sixteen years ago) link

Youtube sounds like fun. Sadly no sound.

Apologising for lack of l33tness in article. That feeling went away with booze though. So much does. Including youth and my girlish figure :(

kv_nol, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:20 (sixteen years ago) link

No more m4nb00bs? :(

but it was all in french so i can't be sure.

It was Pascal's (I think) famous, "The heart hath reasons that reason knoweth not."

Michael White, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:31 (sixteen years ago) link

Or: "Merde was I fucked up last night. What was I thinking?"

kv_nol, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:51 (sixteen years ago) link

Stop talking about secret groups, you exclusionists.

It is so lovely outside today and those poor, neglected kitties are so sweet.

Wishing I could truly have a sick day instead of work to do.

Misery, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:53 (sixteen years ago) link

I hate the last few minutes of work of a friday. They seem to last forever.

treefell, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:54 (sixteen years ago) link

My work friend just emailed me for pizza/shopping at lunch and now I am sad that I am at home. :( But sitting outside petting the kitties was nice. Might do it again here soon.

Turning on the TV now. This thread will become nothing but my boring ramblings b/c you've all headed off.

You will be drunk/asleep before my weekend even starts!

Misery, Friday, 12 October 2007 14:57 (sixteen years ago) link

I've got another hour to "work". So bored I clicked on a link to a dissensus thread.

onimo, Friday, 12 October 2007 15:01 (sixteen years ago) link

onimo, Friday, 12 October 2007 15:08 (sixteen years ago) link

note to self: strikethrough on lower case 'e' doesn't really work.

onimo, Friday, 12 October 2007 15:08 (sixteen years ago) link

I admit that I haven't read all the posts because I am v. lazy this morning, but hey y'all.

I may be adopting a 10 year old dog from the pound this weekend, if I can get around the "we need a letter from your landlord" thing because (a) he's a douche, and (b) he's out of the country for 4 months. The dog's name is Lucky, and his family turned him in for "aggression", but everyone at the pound who's seen him says no way, they just wanted to ditch their dog. Even if I can't keep him (not sure about my two dogs), I figure I can find a home for him, or give him to a no-kill shelter. Who's going to adopt a 10 year old pit? Hardly anyone will adopt them around here if they aren't puppies, and an older dog should not have to live his last days in the pound because some dickface decided it was inconvenient to have a dog now. Even if he only lives another 6 months, I want him to know he was loved. I'm a sap. I just hope the people at the pound will understand that I can't get them a letter, and won't let Lucky be put to sleep for lack of one when I'm ready and willing to love him, you know?

Also, after all the accent conversation, I would like please one (1) Irish or Scottish boyfriend kthxbye.

luna, Friday, 12 October 2007 15:49 (sixteen years ago) link

I don't know what kind of shelter they are but the one we adopt from are pretty serious about the letters. Maybe if you explained the situation to them they could hold him? What about a pit foster group? They often save dogs are unadoptable and maybe you could go through them to get him.

Either way it sounds like a great plan. I would never have Foxy if she hadn't of been placed on our doorstep. I know puppies and kittens are waay more likely to find homes than older pets. I always go for the seniors. That's why we got Wheezy. She had been there for months and was really probably only still alive b/c the shelter was remarkably not that full.

She is pretty mean though and I wonder now if that's why she was given up. But we'd never take her back. We got her for life.

Misery, Friday, 12 October 2007 15:53 (sixteen years ago) link

I told myself if I finished work I could go to Target. But fuck it, I'm going now. I need to buy a wedding present for tommorow and use a $10 off of $100 coupon. I will have no trouble making up the rest of that $100.

Good thing my comfort shopping only happens at cheap stores.

Misery, Friday, 12 October 2007 15:56 (sixteen years ago) link

I have a feeling they're serious, too, but we'll see. It doesn't say it anywhere on their website, and I have to be "interviewed" by them because he's a pit, so maybe that will work once they find out I already have two.

This r him: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v240/lunacee/Lucky.jpg

luna, Friday, 12 October 2007 15:59 (sixteen years ago) link

Okay he is cuet. Fuck the letter, I'll take him!
