"honey" is amazing, yeah - i think all the singles off the last two albums work best as part of their parent albums though

poll was inspired by hearing "Tyrone" on the radio recently and god it is just perfect, the way the audience is hearing the song for the first time and reacting to every line, and then is singing along by the 2nd chorus. that and Jodeci's "Lately" are probably the only live recordings that are R&B radio perennials, says a lot.

Yall better check out "Hydraulic Pump" by the P-Funk All-Stars if you love "Jump Up in the Air and Stay There" so much. All 4 of you, I mean. Source material for both "Jump Up" and the Coup's "5 Million Ways to Kill A CEO." Features both George Clinton AND Sly Stone (give it up for freebase cocaine). The line swiped by Badu was originally sung by ex-Spinners singer Phillipe Wynne, who collapsed and died while performing with P-Funk two years later. Anyway, bonkers song. Make sure it's the 12" version you're listening to, not the edit that appears on the Urban Dancefloor Guerillas album.

Could be that those voting for "Jump" actually have familiarity with (and love for) "Hydraulic"? I didn't vote for it, but I'm amused at the results here. Thought I was seriously the only one on ILX who actually liked "Jump" better than "Window Seat."

definitely. for me, she's an albums artist, inasmuch as if I hear a song of hers I want to hear the whole album, the context matters, the standard of material is dizzyingly high.
