I think "coosh contusion" is the winning phrase from that song anyway

<3 "Ante Up" but that is way too high. Not even my favorite M.O.P. joint. Glad "Cream" wasn't #1 tho, esp. after Wu won the other poll. That joint is overrated (but so is "Protect Ya Neck").

The Reverend, Friday, 10 June 2011 21:14 (twelve years ago) link

Thanks for all the appreciation. I make a living as a graphic designer so it was fun to do, despite the combined 7 hours of sleep over the last 2 nights.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Friday, 10 June 2011 21:15 (twelve years ago) link

I would have gotten "NY State of Mind" & "A Roller Skating Jam Named 'Saturdays'" into the poll if I'd voted. Maybe "The Next Episode"/"One Day"/"The Takeover" too.

The Reverend, Friday, 10 June 2011 21:22 (twelve years ago) link

Wait, how can it be that I was the only Bomfunk voter?

I dunno, it's never really grabbed me like that.

The Reverend, Friday, 10 June 2011 22:05 (twelve years ago) link

It's always seemed kind of worthy to me.

The Reverend, Friday, 10 June 2011 22:05 (twelve years ago) link

I'm kinda sad that no one else besides me voted for "Sucker DJ", "Fire It Up", "Illusions", "Ladies First", or "Fat Cats, Bigga Fish"... These are all top class tunes, certainly better than anything Eminem ever did.

Tuomas, Friday, 10 June 2011 22:06 (twelve years ago) link

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmHziduwBgI

IMO this one of the best video/tune combos of the 90s.

Tuomas, Friday, 10 June 2011 22:08 (twelve years ago) link

We should do one of these on a yearly basis but exclude the tracks that have previously made it. By year three or four things would get real interesting, or maybe it would just turn into an Odd Future wankfest, idk.

Fire It Up is tops.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Friday, 10 June 2011 22:13 (twelve years ago) link

Eh I think ilx no longer likes odd future

lebroner (D-40), Friday, 10 June 2011 22:15 (twelve years ago) link

So itll just be a bunch of wu affiliate tracks and de la soul skits then.

Spottie_Ottie_Dope, Friday, 10 June 2011 22:23 (twelve years ago) link

Wonder how many countdowns it would take for my #1 to place

― Edward III, Saturday, 11 June 2011 05:09 (4 hours ago)

that was me, I think?

AFAIR all of my strategic or troll voting got shut out ;_;

all cats are gay (sic), Friday, 10 June 2011 23:23 (twelve years ago) link

Heroic work a hoy hoy and Spottie, even though now I look at the full list it looks like my ballot wasn't counted in the end because there are no votes at all for some of my picks. But hey, a great top 100 anyway (including roughly half my list) and a total pleasure to follow the rollout.

Especially grateful because my wife was expecting a baby all week and this was a great distraction from the nerves. She gave birth today. Only hitch: throughout the long labour I had the bassline to Black Moon's I Got Cha Opin running through my exhausted head.

Some of the supposed locks for top 20 (What's My Name, Drop It Like It's Hot) didn't even make top 200.

25 of my Old School 50 made it to the 100, so I'm happy. My "criminally overlooked" list is topped by:

Stetsasonic - Talking All That Jazz
Big Daddy Kane - Raw
Young MC - Know How

Congrats on the birth of Lil Dee Ell!

can't believe I'm the only vote for this, is this like some forgotten dre joint

Above The Law - 'Murder Rap'

― Edward III, Friday, 10 June 2011 20:18 (Yesterday)

I'd go for the flip ('Another Execution').
