I mean I'd never vote for "summertime" but sometimes ppl need a little light + refreshing

no serenade no fire brigade just a trypophobia (Edward III), Thursday, 9 June 2011 16:26 (twelve years ago) link

I would have put this much much higher

it's a toss-up between this, "Brothers Gonna Work It Out" and "Bring The Noise" as to what my favorite PE single is

low-rent black gangster nicknamed Bootsy (DJP), Thursday, 9 June 2011 16:26 (twelve years ago) link

'electric relaxation' is my favourite tribe track.
'fight the power' is my fav public enemy *fists in the air*
'summertime' is a jam

the-dream's car of the summer (tpp), Thursday, 9 June 2011 16:27 (twelve years ago) link

actually I'm fronting, I basically adore every PE single through "Shut Em Down" except for "Terrordome"

low-rent black gangster nicknamed Bootsy (DJP), Thursday, 9 June 2011 16:28 (twelve years ago) link

:( Terrordome is my favorite PE single.

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 9 June 2011 16:28 (twelve years ago) link

what's wrong with terrordome?

Bass!

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 9 June 2011 16:31 (twelve years ago) link

the first time I heard the whole thing was post controversy, plus I dunno the beat doesn't really gel for me in the same way that "Fight The Power" or "Brothers Gonna Work It Out" or even "Can't Do Nuttin' For Ya Man" does

xp: "Bring The Noise" OTOH slays from the get go

low-rent black gangster nicknamed Bootsy (DJP), Thursday, 9 June 2011 16:31 (twelve years ago) link

Hmm, Fight the Power was my #1 but the entry doesn't mention any #1 votes.

Great run of songs anyway.

Strictly vote-splitting (DL), Thursday, 9 June 2011 16:44 (twelve years ago) link

Yay Kurtis Blow & Summertime. Really should've voted on this one... seems my 'moka-hop' taste wasn't really that devious from the standard preset here.

Awesome pics too.

follow the leader the album is microphone fiend + a bunch of filler imo. should have just been the lead single on rhythm.

WHO THE FUCK READS THE (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 9 June 2011 16:45 (twelve years ago) link

luv the follow the leader pic

steady sbobbin (symsymsym), Thursday, 9 June 2011 16:46 (twelve years ago) link

a 60 was included DL, i must have just forgotten to write it in my lil bit for #1s on excel

WHO THE FUCK READS THE (a hoy hoy), Thursday, 9 June 2011 16:46 (twelve years ago) link

"Follow The Leader" was also my #1. 11 of my Top 20 have now placed, and I'm reasonably hopeful that 5 more will follow.

mike t-diva, Thursday, 9 June 2011 16:47 (twelve years ago) link

I thought Bring The Noise would be a lock for the top 5.

kornrulez6969, Thursday, 9 June 2011 16:47 (twelve years ago) link

I only voted for Public Enemy No. 1 and You're Gonna Get Yours because I think Yo! Bum Rush The Show is their weakest album prior to He Got Game.

The first night I had an E that blew my head off, the DJ played 'Soul Power 74' by The J.B.s and 'You're Gonna Get Yours'. I can't hear either tune without going a bit funny.

Why is there a miniature Tie Fighter flying at Kurtis Blow's head?

XP: Follow The Leader is a great song but not as pure bad ass as Juice though.
