i remember when 'in da club' was just a leaked mp3 -- i played it like 20x in a row. the beat was incredible

of course, it became unavoidable for 3 years afterward, which sorta drove it into the ground, but still an exceptional song imo

Ha, was just thinking about that Quik point and about In Da Club in general. Its definitely too ubiquitous for me to really appreciate anymore, but yah, sit and listen to it and you realize the greatness.

I went back and listened after the Quik revelation and you can totally hear it, no wonder I like(d) it so much, no wonder it springs like that.

i don't like the snare/clap kind of lurches and clomps and the kick just mirrors the string riff -- also texturally feels like the moment when 'expensive' Aftermath production started to resemble generic TV show music bed rap beats (xpost)

I didn't mean this beat in particular, I was disagreeing w al saying this was the beginning if the end. But that said yall are way underrating it here bcuz it was overplayed

i didn't say it was the beginning of the end of anything, just that it was a point when the Dre/Aftermath sound kinda got too shiny and expensive for my taste -- obviously the G-Unit sound was just developing and merging with that into something new at that point

Yah I mean I remember thinking this beat was easily the best on the record when it first leaked, before it was a single. I don't think that any more but I think we're def underrating it if u think poppin them things is better
