Does anyone have their Beer City LP reissues? I listened to the first album for a second in the record store after finding it used, and it sounded like SHIT from what I could tell. Way worse than the CD copy I had a long time ago. Could have been the headphones and/or turntable -- second opinions?

OK last night they only played for half an hour

Did they play both of their first two albums or half of their last one?

Missed the poll.

Had to be Dealing with it.

Seriously superb album. Hardcore at it's best." Snap, I'd rather be sleeping,Couch slouch, slit my wrists, I don't need society etc"

This band really does rule, huh? I just got Crossover, having only had Dealing With It for a while. /poser

I CAN'T EVEN BELIEVE I GET TO SEE THIS BAND

(in April, but still!)

I would recommend the Dirty Rotten LP over just about anything and in just about any situation, to anyone.

I have all their albums from Dealing With It through Thrash Zone. I guess the Dirty Rotten LP is songs from Dealing With It in demo form or something? This wasn't available when I was a young thrasher punk buying tapes at the mall. Worth hearing, I guess?

Oh and I missed the poll but based on those four, I'd go with DWI

Jimmywine Dyspeptic, Friday, 5 February 2016 15:51 (eight years ago) link

lots of songs not on DWI iirc, wouldn't call them "demo" form cuz it is really their 1st full length but they are rawer & less produced, you need it.

When I was a kid, I had both and preferred Dealing With It! There was a lot of overlap between the two, especially when the first LP was bundled with the Violent Pacification EP. Listen to it, it won't take too much time out of your day or anything.

And in other news, here's You Say I'm Scum, which I never had as a kid because I had the cassette.

Interesting story about me and DRI: In 6th grade, a friend got really into them, and to try to get me to like them, he lent me the inlay card of the cassette for the day. I spent most of that school day reading the tiny printed lyrics on the j-card, so I was way more familiar with the lyrics before I even heard the band! Of all the ways I've gotten into bands (especially punk / hc / metal bands), that's one of the more unorthodox.

Of course, when I did finally hear the album, as soon as "Snap" started, I knew it was gonna be my new favorite band. I can still recite the lyrics to a lot of these songs.

Kinda strange how DRI lyrics got dumber and dumber over the years.

ha, was just telling my wife "I know every single word to all of these songs" last night

I am a purist snob who has never even listened to Crossover, should I try it?

the 'major tom guy' (sleeve), Friday, 5 February 2016 16:12 (eight years ago) link

I dunno. It was a pretty steep decline iirc. I actually prefer Four Of A Kind to Crossover. "Suit and Tie Guy" is a good one, and "Dead In A Ditch."

Thrash Zone is an amazing album title

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Sunday, 8 December 2019 05:39 (four years ago) link

yeah I like how some of teh titles are just prescriptive as to what genre the album is

"Crossover"
"Thrash Zone"

master of nuggets (Neanderthal), Sunday, 8 December 2019 05:52 (four years ago) link

Crossover is good. I don't like Thrash Zone or 4 of a Kind as much but there's still good stuff on both of those
