I think Ms. Ward is right to advice small business entrepreneurs to exercise caution. Riding the disco wave can be profitable, but suburban Montreal is littered with the legacy of disco small businesses now virtually abandoned, only occasionally frequented by sneering hipsters, looking to poke fun, and real disco enthusiasts, mourning the slow demise of their beloved art form.

Don't say no to disco, because you'll never get laid if you're dancing to emo.

Disco greats like Donna Summer and Gloria Gaynor are making comebacks, new bands like Hercules and Love Affair and Chromeo are making disco music, movies are being made about disco stars and disco's signature fashion house, Halston, has been revived.
But does all this make disco a good small business idea?
Maybe.

Disco was a magnificent business opportunity in 1978. May not be to the same extent today. :)

I dunno, I hear that house music has become very popular in America because many artists have crossed over to the mainstream.
