I'm currently in front of gate 210 in ONT waiting on JetBlue to take me to JFK.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Friday, 23 July 2004 04:45 (10 years ago) Permalink

The ONT terminal is nice in a late-90s shopping mall sort of way, but the layout is horrible with one long linear line of gates so you have to walk miles. Additionally, there are no electrical power outlets near the seating, you have to sit on the floor in the middle of the walkway.

At least the wireless is free.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Friday, 23 July 2004 04:47 (10 years ago) Permalink

Oh yeah, there's an ant problem here too.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Friday, 23 July 2004 04:47 (10 years ago) Permalink

Hell yes, it's ant season. Mine's coming for a stay next week.

Have a good time in NYC, Elvis.

jim wentworth (wench), Friday, 23 July 2004 04:51 (10 years ago) Permalink

There's a LOT of ants here. If this was anything smaller than a giant airport terminal building we'd be re-enacting Phase IV here.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Friday, 23 July 2004 05:01 (10 years ago) Permalink

What kind of ants and what's the nature of your trip?

jim wentworth (wench), Friday, 23 July 2004 05:10 (10 years ago) Permalink

Standard-sized house ants.

Going to NYC to see JBR, take more of my stuff out in advance of the October move, and to go see Devo & the Yeah Yeah Yeahs(as mentioned on this thread)

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Friday, 23 July 2004 05:17 (10 years ago) Permalink

I also win because I was able to score an exit row seat at the last minute. Hooray for extra leg room!

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Friday, 23 July 2004 05:18 (10 years ago) Permalink

Leg room is a big plus So's the Devo date. Exactly when are they playig?

jim wentworth (wench), Friday, 23 July 2004 05:26 (10 years ago) Permalink

Friday night in Central Park with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. There's an ILM thread about it.

Anyway, getting on the plane now

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Friday, 23 July 2004 05:31 (10 years ago) Permalink

Happy landings!

Make that 100, and you'd be right.

(Wish I'd actually thought to look for this thread on Thursday, when I was actually in an airport.

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 25 August 2005 21:17 (9 years ago) Permalink

I'll be in two airports next week. One in Canada! Calgary! I've never been to Canada before. I'll be there for all of an hour!

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Thursday, 25 August 2005 21:18 (9 years ago) Permalink

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Thursday, 25 August 2005 21:19 (9 years ago) Permalink

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 25 August 2005 21:19 (9 years ago) Permalink

oh that J-AN VF looks thick and JUICY!

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 25 August 2005 21:20 (9 years ago) Permalink

oh no, I wasn't suggesting that this thread isn't valid, just noting the confluence.

xp get Wired. Wired's the quintessential airport magazine.

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Thursday, 25 August 2005 21:20 (9 years ago) Permalink

eww!! i don't think i've ever bought an issue of wired!!

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 25 August 2005 21:21 (9 years ago) Permalink

I LIKE wired!

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Thursday, 25 August 2005 21:21 (9 years ago) Permalink

really? is it good? i guess i've read some wired articles online... but BUYING a magazine about the internet always seems like a waste of money!

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 25 August 2005 21:22 (9 years ago) Permalink

it's not about the internet, it's about science! and they have one or two really good writers (and some terrible ones).

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Thursday, 25 August 2005 21:23 (9 years ago) Permalink

can i buy an issue of mondo 2000 instead?

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 25 August 2005 21:23 (9 years ago) Permalink

I mean, it IS kind of embarassing, but I enjoy it.

xp yes

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Thursday, 25 August 2005 21:23 (9 years ago) Permalink

well i'll totally buy it if the VF isn't there. also the entertainment weekly this week looks boring!! it's like a summer wrap-up issue, fuck that, i don't wanna read past tense versions of the articles they've been writing since may!!

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 25 August 2005 21:25 (9 years ago) Permalink

what about a foreign newspaper?

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Thursday, 25 August 2005 21:28 (9 years ago) Permalink

Toblerone?

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Thursday, 25 August 2005 21:28 (9 years ago) Permalink

Remember s1ocki, it's the end of winter down there. But don't be surprised to see lots of long stockinged legs even with the winter coats.

I misread the thread title as I AM AN AIRPORT, so I was hoping it would be full of things like I AM AN AIRPORT COME AND LOOK AT TEH AIRPLANES TALKING OFF FROM ME.

DV (dirtyvicar), Thursday, 25 August 2005 21:44 (9 years ago) Permalink

It could well have been a lost Jonathan Richman song- the followup to "Rockin' Shopping Center" and the precursor to "I'm A Little Airplane."

Calgary = Canadian Cowboyland. (Well, a lot of cities are Canadian Cowboyland, but Calgary likes to think of itself as the capital of it. Also, ask LeCoq about how cool Calgary is.. hahahah)

No better way to point out the vulnerabilities of your national transportation infrastructure than having a suicidal dude set an ATC tower on fire in the most crowded hub airspace in North America

Currently at Borispol airport. A British woman in her sixties is explaining Jewish people to another British woman in her forties who seems to new to the whole concept. Tbf, the one doing the explaining seems to only have a marginally better grasp. Quite how anyone so unworldly managed to end up in Ukraine is a mystery but not one I'm keen to explore further.

Wristy Hurlington (ShariVari), Tuesday, 21 October 2014 05:24 (4 days ago) Permalink

well the Jews were all expelled from Britain at some point right

Spirit of Match Game '76 (silby), Tuesday, 21 October 2014 05:26 (4 days ago) Permalink

She legitimately just asked whether there were any Jewish people in Britain!

Wristy Hurlington (ShariVari), Tuesday, 21 October 2014 05:27 (4 days ago) Permalink

not as if they'd all go waltzing back after that nasty expulsion business tho
