so, yesterday i was approached by a PR asking for my skype details as a german magazine wants to interview me about my album.
took a few minutes before the penny dropped.
can't deny i did have a thought to step up and do the interview and talk about my love for Foetus et al, as opposed to downtempo sunshine grooves.

That revenge edit is great. He, along with 6th Borough project, are fast becoming my favourite producers/editors of the moment.

Revenge album is OK, a nice collection of edits but a bit of a hodgepodge and not quite the deep-beat slo-mo jams we're used to from him. More along the lines of other fare from Z Records (Joey Negro's label). the Mark E album, on the other hand, is fucking great. most of the tracks hover around 115 but the slower ones are killer. Really digging it at the moment.

btw, a little BSP - if you're in SF, i'll be playing this sort of stuff at the afterparty for the Sunset season opener on Sunday, at Milk starting around 9 or so. if you go to the Sunset party, head by afterwards for some slo-mo action!

dunno if the francis inferno orchestra track is necessary. the imagination track is pretty perfect on its own, but i've sorta been done w/straight edits for a long time now.

The Eddie C album is lovely - first half is slo-mo jams, then it gets a bit housier. Very hazy and bleary-eyed in the best possible way with lots of thick disco basslines.

^ i have been enjoying this lately as well, has anyone heard the revenge or soft rocks full lengths yet? i think those came out already, no? part of me is expecting to be let down by a lot of these releases but this eddie c thing is def encouraging

cant decide if i think this is sacrilege or not cuz the original is one of my fav songs ever made but these seems like a p dope edit. kinda hate when a song that is so heavily derivative is titled like it was an original composition or something though

i know its a month old but im not sure i get the appeal of that 'brothers gonna work it out edit' -- sounds like someone's fucking with the mixer & playing another track on top of it at the wrong speed. plus the greatest part of the original is the crazy tom pattern in the drums. maybe im not 'getting it' tho

brother's gonna work it out revenge edit is great because it's trippy and cinemascopic and pretty dramatic when the strings kick in towards the end. It's pretty far out from the OG as far as edits go.

imo it abandons the bombastic soundtracky shift from the first part to the 2nd part of the original and in turn recreates a slow, building thing thats more ~atmosphere~ than energy. blank's totally otm on how when the strings drop in, they're dramatic, but imo not in a build-and-release way: more sunrise than atom bomb.

plus the greatest part of the original is the crazy tom pattern in the drums.

agreed, but i love how he kills them and instead replicates that rhythm with that really tight kick drum sound that repeats over and over.

"Sunrise" is pretty much the perfect way to describe the Revenge's edits.

For whatever reason, I've been ambivalent about Eddie C (it probably has to do with some sort of narcissism of small differences that comes with being an Eddie B and also being Canadian), but to hell with that, this is incredible:
