Seward is a nice little neighborhood, handy to many areas, lots of my friends live there. The Birchwood Cafe is reliably good for breakfast or lunch. Or Raja's mahal for Indian.

If you're downtown tomorrow night come and see my band play at Lee's Liquor Lounge!

Hmmm, seems Raja's Mahal has become an Ethiopian restaurant since I was there last.

clotpoll, Tuesday, 22 March 2011 19:36 (thirteen years ago) link

Also the Mayday Cafe is pretty much my ideal neighborhood cafe if you're into that sort of thing. Doesn't stay open very late though.

clotpoll, Tuesday, 22 March 2011 19:44 (thirteen years ago) link

You guys get to engage with RUIN at the Triple Rock *emits jealous vibes* waaaaah....

anna sui generis (suzy), Tuesday, 22 March 2011 19:50 (thirteen years ago) link

the twin peaks cafe was "caribou" (?) i think. it was v twin peaks except for the fact it was in the skyways of opposite-dubai

caek, Tuesday, 22 March 2011 20:28 (thirteen years ago) link

goole, Tuesday, 22 March 2011 20:34 (thirteen years ago) link

caribou is a chain! kind of ironically, there was a chain email going around a few years back alleging the majority of the stockholders were some arab investment group!

mh, Tuesday, 22 March 2011 20:34 (thirteen years ago) link

broke my o_O face o_O (jjjusten), Tuesday, 22 March 2011 20:45 (thirteen years ago) link

haha yeah, shit got real in the last hour or so, right? i may well take you up on that offer. i am trying to get around under my own steam if poss (for the local colour, etc.) but if it stays like this then screw local colour. is it ok if i let you know either (via text) around 7?

p.s. not one person in this town has understood me when i say the word "water".

caek, Tuesday, 22 March 2011 21:14 (thirteen years ago) link

caek, Tuesday, 22 March 2011 21:14 (thirteen years ago) link

broke my o_O face o_O (jjjusten), Tuesday, 22 March 2011 21:40 (thirteen years ago) link

also i have been warned that the triple rock sometimes gets a little inundated w/frat jerks around 10 on 241 nights but hey if it does, we go somewhere else so

broke my o_O face o_O (jjjusten), Tuesday, 22 March 2011 22:44 (thirteen years ago) link

World Congress of Itch (Dr Morbius), Monday, 23 April 2012 18:16 (eleven years ago) link

whoa! I would be tempted to go up there for the weekend if you made the effort to make such a trip

mh, Monday, 23 April 2012 19:06 (eleven years ago) link

On the weekend I would be preoccupied w/ baseball research findings & games, unforch.

World Congress of Itch (Dr Morbius), Monday, 23 April 2012 19:09 (eleven years ago) link

pssh, guess I could take a day off, mr. business

mh, Monday, 23 April 2012 19:14 (eleven years ago) link

Isn't it sort of a "whole Midwest" trip?

jungleous butterflies strange birds (Eric H.), Monday, 23 April 2012 19:25 (eleven years ago) link

But, yes, count me in if you do swing up. Plenty of dive bars in NE to sample.

jungleous butterflies strange birds (Eric H.), Monday, 23 April 2012 19:26 (eleven years ago) link

stoked for the morbness!

Badu and a sax run hand-in-hand (jjjusten), Monday, 23 April 2012 19:28 (eleven years ago) link

there are cost and shall-I-or-can-I-move factors at play, so curb your anticipation.

World Congress of Itch (Dr Morbius), Monday, 23 April 2012 19:31 (eleven years ago) link

the morb giveth, and the morb taketh away

Badu and a sax run hand-in-hand (jjjusten), Monday, 23 April 2012 19:33 (eleven years ago) link

maybe we can apply for a morbs subsidy

mh, Monday, 23 April 2012 20:12 (eleven years ago) link

I'd try to lure him south but I don't think he needs to see the Cubs farm team

mh, Monday, 23 April 2012 20:12 (eleven years ago) link

well, I'm PO'd cuz the St Paul Saints are on the road (cuz the Twins are home) during the confab, so I was in fact thinking of making a diversion to see Quad Cities. All theoretical at the moment tho.

World Congress of Itch (Dr Morbius), Monday, 23 April 2012 20:14 (eleven years ago) link

I do have to say, for minor league baseball, dsm has a nice stadium

mh, Monday, 23 April 2012 20:16 (eleven years ago) link

World Congress of Itch (Dr Morbius), Friday, 18 May 2012 15:20 (eleven years ago) link

I may be able to swing by mpls that weekend if a morbs is around

mh, Friday, 18 May 2012 15:24 (eleven years ago) link

Great! It would be fun do attend a FAP in Mpls. Because I never have. Been invited.

Count-Dracula-Down (Eric H.), Friday, 18 May 2012 15:27 (eleven years ago) link

hey, i'm down. what's the worst that could happen?

goole, Friday, 18 May 2012 16:00 (eleven years ago) link

damn, I'll be 10 days too early to see a production of The Sunshine Boys at the Guthrie!

Will be based in a familiar sector of downtown, as I went to both Gay '90s and 7th Street Entry in '94.

World Congress of Itch (Dr Morbius), Friday, 18 May 2012 16:06 (eleven years ago) link

Will not FAP at the Gay 90s sorry.

Count-Dracula-Down (Eric H.), Friday, 18 May 2012 16:06 (eleven years ago) link

That's OK, I don't go to music shows (hardly) anymore either.

World Congress of Itch (Dr Morbius), Friday, 18 May 2012 16:08 (eleven years ago) link

two weeks pass...

not really a good way to get from Mpls to Iowa (Davenport/Quad Cities) unless you're driving or buying a $400 plane ticket, eh?

World Congress of Itch (Dr Morbius), Friday, 1 June 2012 17:20 (eleven years ago) link

nope. rent a car. It'll be way cheaper than a plane ticket. I think it's a five-and-a-half hour drive, and taking everything into account, that plane ride will take up a good three hours of your day.

lol, have never driven

World Congress of Itch (Dr Morbius), Friday, 1 June 2012 17:33 (eleven years ago) link

new york, new york, a helluva town

World Congress of Itch (Dr Morbius), Friday, 1 June 2012 17:33 (eleven years ago) link

A friend of mine biked down to Iowa. It's flat, so it'll be an easy 350 miles.
