I kinda have, mostly cause its a danja production - idk why but most of his songs sound too 'clean' to me, could use a little more scuzz or something

still looks like nobody has told diddy he can't dance yet
weird, he was dancing before he did anything else iirc

"Your Love" may not be flattered much in the context of LTTP but on the radio it really stands out and sounds bold, even just compared to all the other Trey Songz songz getting airplay.

I love how much good music is coming out of this project! Esp. since it initially seemed like it was going to be a one-off thing.

One of the moments I remember feeling happiest last year was lying on a banana lounge at some "beach bar" in Nice (and paying through the nose for the privilege, as you do), getting drunk on beer in the afternoon, Sade's Best Of playing on loop over the stereo. I like to think Diddy had a similar experience that inspired some of this.

i like sade too, so do lots of people, she had one of the best-selling albums of 2010 for fuck's sake! don't get why diddy's obsession is amazing? it just kinda puts him in the company of millions of sade fans. unless we're talking in comparison to other hip-hop artists in 2010-11, in which case he's clearly quite vocal about his love.

Big Boi loves Kate Bush which is always remarked upon but unlike Diddy vis a vis Sade he hasn't made direct reference to it in 3 separate tracks.

the greatest compliment i can pay this album is that it manages to elevate a straight grocery bag verse from justin timberlake into something transcendent
― J0rdan S., Saturday, 14 May 2011 04:11 (2 years ago) Permalink
lol i skip "shades" and "angels" and end the album at "change" and it's perfect

― THAT'S LIGHTWEIGHT DICKERY (dayo), Saturday, 14 May 2011 05:32 (2 years ago) Permalink
that verse is so amazing. i mean a huge part of it is the humour though, timberlake sounds like he's taking the piss out of grocery bags because we all know grocery bags are terrible, right? and the song's entire persona is this superstar who's kind of awkward on a human level
― lex pretend, Saturday, 14 May 2011 07:57 (2 years ago) Permalink
i mean every JT grocery bag just makes me burst out laughing
― lex pretend, Saturday, 14 May 2011 07:58 (2 years ago) Permalink
Yes but I don't think he's laughing.
― Tim F, Saturday, 14 May 2011 07:59 (2 years ago) Permalink
i think he's being intentionally ridiculous
― lex pretend, Saturday, 14 May 2011 08:04 (2 years ago) Permalink
like i don't think even JT thinks "we can press rewind, press rewind...VHS" is a properly great line (but it's still amazing)
Well I don't think he thinks it's artistry, but I think he's taking the piss out of grocery bagging either.
Somewhere in between: I think he recognises that grocery bagging is just ridiculous enough that he too can play that game.
― Tim F, Saturday, 14 May 2011 08:08 (2 years ago) Permalink
don't think he's taking... I mean.
― Tim F, Saturday, 14 May 2011 08:09 (2 years ago) Permalink
yeah i'd agree w/that
― lex pretend, Saturday, 14 May 2011 08:10 (2 years ago) Permalink
I do agree (or at least I think this is what you're getting at) that there's a difference there which means that you don't feel like he's trying to pass off grocery bagging as great rapping, which then makes it easier to love for its ridiculousness.
― Tim F, Saturday, 14 May 2011 08:12 (2 years ago) Permalink
minor thing but do y'all read the lyric "I hate that you love me / so much, boy" as "I hate so much that you love me" or "I hate that you love me so much"
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 8 June 2011 17:20 (1 year ago) Permalink
the latter but kinda both
― the smoke cloud of pure hatred (lex pretend), Wednesday, 8 June 2011 17:22 (1 year ago) Permalink
no the former! look at the title of the song - it's clearly meant to be a little of the latter too as well tho
