Really enjoying Miss Fire at the moment, she's brilliant.

Really rare to find a great singer who's also a good enough producer and songwriter both to be able to smash it on instrumental tracks and step back and let other singers take over.

That Petchy piece was very good though I scratched my head at the reference to "so-called UK Funky". Really?

Very rare indeed, I hope she gets picked up for some releases soon her tracks deserve wax for sure.

No idea what the "so-called UK Funky" line is about either, it seems pointless, wrong and a out of place. It was prob just a flipant slip though I wouldn't bother reading much into it.

I suspect it was an editorial intervention actually, it seems out of keeping with the tone of the article otherwise.

this thread has gotten quiet. love that no mcs mix from marcus nasty from last month. might just be his changing tastes or maybe producers have suddenly gotten 'better' recently, but from what im hearing as im playing catch up, funky seems to have lost some of its rougher edges. producers seem to be aiming for higher production values. also noticing more dubstep/bassline influence. also seems to be less beats with the typical galloping drums. or maybe marcus is just playing from a wider range of sources.

There was about a 15 minute section of his recent show with Majestic when this refined tribal house sound worked really well, like that great Cooly G Rinse set from 2009 only with an MC, but 80% of the time it's just like, "this is nice but why would i go out of my way for it?"

Have any of you guys seen Marcus Nasty in a club? Its like its a diffrent guy that turns up and not in a good way. He sucks hard, every time I've seen him he plays bait played out tunes and can't mix. I don't understand it. Its put me off tuning into him on the radio now-a-days. When you've got guys like Ill Blu, Funkystepz, Petchy, etc doing their thing Marcus just isn't that essential anymore. But that show looks like a good'un so I'm getting on it haha

even at fwd? i still havent seen him play in a club. one time i went to see him play at fwd there he didnt turn up. then i went to beyond once and couldnt be bothered waiting for him to come on so i left lol.
