me too

I would too. That's based on this past minute alone, though...
AND THEY'RE GOING AT IT AFTER THE BELL well Pascal is, anyhow. I'm struggling to see this going beyond eight, really.
― William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:25 (fifteen years ago) link
Surely the ref's got to do something about this after the bell stuff. That was mostly a canny round from Froch but he's still got to do something special now I think.
― Me and Ruth Lorenzo, Rollin' in the Benzo (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:25 (fifteen years ago) link
Froch is looking tired already, Pascal looks like he's only just started. Froch needs a knockout soon or I think he's gone. Cracking fight.
― slag move (onimo), Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:26 (fifteen years ago) link
bit nasty from pascal there
― Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:26 (fifteen years ago) link
I'm sure there's an even more obvious candidate to be Croydon's greatest-ever sportsperson than Duke McKenzie, but I can't remember who.
― William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:27 (fifteen years ago) link
Froch has his clearest win thus far. Surprised ref's not told Pascal to keep his head up yet.
― William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:29 (fifteen years ago) link
Roy Hodgson xpost
― slag move (onimo), Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:30 (fifteen years ago) link
Pascal's eyes are swelling a bit.
― William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:30 (fifteen years ago) link
Hodgson'd be greatest-ever coach, but he was never much of a player, was he?
Anyway, nuffa this talk, Pascal's suddenly the one running out of gas, and Froch has two rounds on the spin.
― William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:33 (fifteen years ago) link
Pascal hasn't throw a punch since i said how fresh he looked.
― slag move (onimo), Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:33 (fifteen years ago) link
Yeah it's probably Froch's to lose now.
― Me and Ruth Lorenzo, Rollin' in the Benzo (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:33 (fifteen years ago) link
If Froch just uses his jab and stays out of trouble (ie not going toe to toe) he can win this on points.
― Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:33 (fifteen years ago) link
moderately successful hahaha
He was a moderately successful player with Crystal Palace (where he failed to break into the first team) followed by several years in non-league football with Tonbridge, Gravesend and Northfleet and Maidstone United (where he was assistant coach),

I'm coming on later after this. Haven't got AIM on this puter.

Fuck's sake Froch, please don't be a bleeder.

Froch really should've finished him by now.
― Me and Ruth Lorenzo, Rollin' in the Benzo (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:41 (fifteen years ago) link
Oh, it's kicked back into life - Pascal was REALLY hurt by that combo 20 seconds from the end, Froch took that round I think by virtue of that.
― William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:41 (fifteen years ago) link
'k, I'll give you that one.
― William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:43 (fifteen years ago) link
Froch for me on that one too.
― William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:44 (fifteen years ago) link
2 to go, the fact that they've both stayed upright this long is pretty impressive.
― Me and Ruth Lorenzo, Rollin' in the Benzo (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:45 (fifteen years ago) link
So on ITV's cards, Pascal needs the knockout now.
― William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:45 (fifteen years ago) link
Aye Pascal is reduced to throwing haymakers in hope rather than expectation. Still dangerous all the same.
― slag move (onimo), Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:45 (fifteen years ago) link
hey william did j ross go home empty handed?
― Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:46 (fifteen years ago) link
Sort of, except I think he was already at home. Not as comedy entertaining as Alan Carr, apparently.
― William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:47 (fifteen years ago) link
And they've made it to round twelve! How?
― William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:49 (fifteen years ago) link
Froch's mum looks like she'd be pretty handy, too.
― Me and Ruth Lorenzo, Rollin' in the Benzo (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:51 (fifteen years ago) link
terrific fight, cant believe it went the distance. Reckon froch dominated the 2nd half of the fight and won by 3 or 4 rounds. But both looked like world champions.
― Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:52 (fifteen years ago) link
Must be Froch, surely. Don't think he'd fancy a re-match.
― Me and Ruth Lorenzo, Rollin' in the Benzo (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:53 (fifteen years ago) link
Best fight in a long long time. Awesome it was on ITV so everyone can see it.
― Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:53 (fifteen years ago) link
Heckuva fight, no idea how to score that last round, but I think Froch's later rounds were that much better that he must have it. Surely there'll be a rematch, though. (Probably on Setanta)

"From NUTTINGAM!"

8 rounds on one card? lol
― Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:56 (fifteen years ago) link
And Mikkel Kessler's still got the WBA strap, too.
― William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 23:56 (fifteen years ago) link
Absolute classic, I could watch that again and again. Must be in the top 10 of fights I've seen.
― Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 7 December 2008 00:02 (fifteen years ago) link
McGuigan reeling off that list of potential fights for Froch did make things sound very exciting.
― William Bloody Swygart, Sunday, 7 December 2008 00:07 (fifteen years ago) link
Pascal very classy in defeat too. Hope he gets another crack at a belt - given that Lucian Bute's the IBF champion...
― William Bloody Swygart, Sunday, 7 December 2008 00:12 (fifteen years ago) link
Pascal looked like a world champ. That's how great Froch was.
Fancy Froch vs Calzaghe?
― Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 7 December 2008 00:13 (fifteen years ago) link
Not sure he's a big enough name yet for it to be an offer Calzaghe can't refuse. I'd say Kessler should be next for Froch - that gives him and Calzaghe a common opponent, and, if Froch can beat him well, it gives him a point to needle Joe with.
― William Bloody Swygart, Sunday, 7 December 2008 00:21 (fifteen years ago) link
Can't see Joe going back down to Super Middle and I think Froch will want to stay there.
Froch and Kessler both look to have great chins, could be as good as the Froch vs Pascal fight.

Just read through this thread for first time in a while - a few good calls (Calzaghe/Hopkins) and a few ridiculous ones "I think Roy Jones would take his (Calgazhe's) head off."
Strange that Khan being wrecked by Prescott didn't make the thread.

From an ABC story on De La Hoya vs. Pacquiao (TKO in 9th round):
Fighthype.com's score cards had Pacquiao winning, 80-72, throughout eight rounds. Compubox indicators also showed that Pacquiao landed 195 out of 333 power punches compared to de la Hoya's 51/164.
iow, 4:1 punches landed == not much of a fight. too bad. Oscar should retire now.
