Yeah, I use the one on the corner of Davie and Burrard quite a bit. Lord, what a dump.

I have trouble understanding that area. What a strange mix of fancy and dumpy (weighted towards dumpy).

Bryan, Tuesday, 22 February 2011 20:10 (thirteen years ago) link

Timmie's is my favourite but now I need to drink coffee with soy instead of regular milk and none of their store stocks it; breaks my heart.

Was with Grandma, who was 1:1 yesterday! Free coffee right off the start.

i won a donut!

Kim, Friday, 4 March 2011 14:25 (thirteen years ago) link

Yay!

Apparently Country Style is accepting all Please Play Agains and giving coffees for them. FYI!

2 for 13 (2nd coffee just now). They're fuckin' lucky. Of course there aren't any Country Styles here in Vancouver. I wonder if Duffin's would accept the please play agains? I should try just for fun.

Bryan, Monday, 7 March 2011 18:01 (thirteen years ago) link

and now a coffee! that's like 2 for 8 i think.

Kim, Tuesday, 8 March 2011 15:05 (thirteen years ago) link

You're not gonna get one of those raunchy French vanillas with it, are you, Kimmo?

Bryan, Tuesday, 8 March 2011 16:42 (thirteen years ago) link

is that really what you think of me Bryan? i'll admit that i sometimes put real vanilla in real coffee, but those things are grossly oversweet - only rarely drinkable if diluted by half with coffee (apparently my one time recommendation of the Kriek beer has tarnished my taste rep for all time?!)

Kim, Tuesday, 8 March 2011 17:30 (thirteen years ago) link

I was just testing you. I can't look at a bottle of Kriek without wincing! Hospitals could use it in place of ipecac, ffs.

Bryan, Tuesday, 8 March 2011 17:42 (thirteen years ago) link

I must be 0/8 by now.

sofatruck, Tuesday, 8 March 2011 18:00 (thirteen years ago) link

mmm ipecac

It's a magical thread. 2/14, btw

Bryan, Wednesday, 9 March 2011 04:04 (thirteen years ago) link

we have a new brewer here at home (our old one wore out last month after years of hard service) so i am faced with the realization that it does not dispense RUTR cups. no more winning at morning coffee. :(

Kim, Wednesday, 9 March 2011 15:48 (thirteen years ago) link

Maybe you should tape loonies to the bottom of random mugs in the cabinet? :D

eleven months pass...

I'm 1:5 so far this year. A coffee of course. But I think it's a better prize this year since the have a new, larger coffee size.

everything, Friday, 2 March 2012 20:35 (twelve years ago) link

One is six is a winner so I'm ahead of the game so far.

everything, Friday, 2 March 2012 20:57 (twelve years ago) link

I went to Tim's today for the first time in months and months and didn't get a coffee.

Not going to do it this year.

They've asked too many times. Feels like begging.

Hilariously, I won my first-ever doughnut in 2011 in a hospital cafeteria after receiving my diagnosis of type 2 diabetes.

DOUBLE FUCKIN RIM ROLLS

Bryan, Tuesday, 18 February 2014 00:16 (ten years ago) link

The song is terrible (Nickleback is ours too, remember), but I guess it is sort of our "Party in the USA," or something.

Timmy's franchise where I bought the coffee was directly opposite the cafeteria, just to clarify

Sir Lord Baltimora (Myonga Vön Bontee), Tuesday, 18 February 2014 23:24 (ten years ago) link

I'm glad I never had to work at a Timmy's.

I'm in a "fuck that place and their shit coffee/wrong order" mood lately so probably no free disappointments for me this year.

everything, Tuesday, 18 February 2014 23:45 (ten years ago) link

They seem unable to make a cup of tea without pouring fucking sugar into it and about half a pint of milk. Also the breakfast sandwiches etc have taken a turn towards McDonalds quality, the donuts are way too sweet and Timbits have always tasted like crap.

everything, Tuesday, 18 February 2014 23:55 (ten years ago) link

The thing is, who goes to Timmy's for quality, right?

Every time I've gone it's been out of convenience or for "Aw, fuck it, I don't feel like thinking of where to eat" reasons.

one month passes...

It's taken me a few weeks, but I am beginning to accept the reality that blueberry fritters are gone and they're not coming back.

clemenza, Saturday, 22 March 2014 13:32 (ten years ago) link

Also: I think the whole two-chances-to-win thing is a ruse. The odds are supposed to be 1 in 6. I'd estimate I've bought 30-40 coffees the past month, and I've won three times--1 in 12, maybe (ignoring that it's 1 in 24 if you count each cup twice). I don't know how to do the math, but my guess is that the probability of a 1/6 event happening 1/12 times over 35 trials is low. I'm forwarding this post to Oliver Stone.

Nothing this year at all.

one year passes...

Going through the drive-through a few minutes ago, I got a "Congratulations" as I handed over a free-coffee scrap. First time that's ever happened. Appreciated, but not really necessary--and I felt very little joy as the transaction was completed.
