Actually sick kid is 21, so hopefully she'll stay in bed most of the day.

I can make my own curries, of course, but it's never the same.

Are you still coming for ROUGH CIDER this weekend, Mr Boksen?

aldo, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 08:36 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh yes. It's only Wednesday and I am as fit as a viola.

Did you have qualms about missing either of the footy matches? Or will they have either of them on in rough cider house? Is it one of the rough cider house rules to show the footy?

Guilty_Boksen, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 08:40 (sixteen years ago) link

It does not have a telly, and would probably be showing the England game if it did. Which is not the one I really want to watch. ;_;

aldo, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 08:44 (sixteen years ago) link

And there are no other places in Brizzle that would be showing the Scotland match?

Guilty_Boksen, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 08:55 (sixteen years ago) link

hi dere busy thread.

I was all Diet Boy this morning with my Big Bag of Fresh Fruit then I walked into the office and was offered CAKE which I couldn't possibly refuse. Maybe tomorrow...

I considered joining a local diet club thing where I'd get weighed and shamed every week as it might be the kick up the arse I need but then I spotted "6.30-7.00: Fun Dancing" - there's no fucking way I'm doing The Way To Amarillo while dodging bingo wings in a community centre. I'd rather be fat, frankly.

onimo, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 09:18 (sixteen years ago) link

Sorry to hear about Mrs Boksette mate, hope she gets back to her old self soon.

onimo, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 09:20 (sixteen years ago) link

God, GB, that's a major pain of a health problem your SO has. My huge sympathies go out there.

Now, I have to do work today, of both the paid and house kind.

accentmonkey, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 09:20 (sixteen years ago) link

We had a parents' night at the school last night. I've discovered that a side effect of being on the school board is that teachers give you much more of their time - meaning that all the other parents were growling at us when we finally got out :(

Both boys got good reports so we bought them books at the school book fair as a reward. Mark chose some 600 page pirate epic which is way beyond his current reading level, meaning I'll likely be saying AAARRRR a lot in the next few weeks.

David's teacher says he's been teaching her all about how negative numbers work. I think she was kind of hinting that we're teaching him too much at home but we have nothing to do with it really.

There's a pub in St Annes, possibly, but I don't think we want to go there.

As OTFM as a fly who lands on a fiver, on which somebody has drawn a giant spurting cock.

aldo, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 09:26 (sixteen years ago) link

Go to a shitty sports bar (Walkabout's likely to show every game isn't it?) for the duration of the match and spend the rest of the day somewhere nice.

onimo, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 09:28 (sixteen years ago) link

kids theorize the darndest imaginary numbers!

darraghmac, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 09:34 (sixteen years ago) link

Duration of the match is practically the entire time we're out. ;_;

Loved those book fairs when I were a nipper.

Nonsense! Hardly your fault the child's a genius. In fact in from chatting with you on ILX I would hazard that it is more likely in spite of you that the child's a genius.

Rugby this weekend's going to be class people. Can't wait. No visitors, nothing to do. Will get some cans with SO and sit on couch getting quietly merry.

kv_nol, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 09:55 (sixteen years ago) link

That has to be weakest zing of all time. I do apologise u_u

kv_nol, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 09:55 (sixteen years ago) link

i'd give you -2, but that may confuse said teacher futher.

darraghmac, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 09:59 (sixteen years ago) link

Fair enough.

What predictions for rugby so? I'm thinking France v South Africa in the final...

kv_nol, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 10:04 (sixteen years ago) link

ooh, how controversial :-/

darraghmac, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 10:05 (sixteen years ago) link

i predict that it won't be as good as proper football. i'm not really following the rugby.

darraghmac, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 10:06 (sixteen years ago) link

in spite of you

haha otm

onimo, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 10:07 (sixteen years ago) link

kv_nol, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 10:36 (sixteen years ago) link

kv_nol, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 11:10 (sixteen years ago) link

um, i'd feel very silly comparing it to buying a house, is the latest!

she'll get it at christmas, sure there's time enough.

darraghmac, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 11:17 (sixteen years ago) link

Heh heh. I'm seriously tempted to buy xbox for GTA IV or a Wii for drunken fun. One last blow out while I have any cash!

In other news: I am halfway through that thread on dishes. ILX = mentalists one and all!

kv_nol, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 11:22 (sixteen years ago) link

get a wii, no contest. i had an xbox on loan, but wouldn't buy one. SO and myself are getting a wii for my brothers for christmas.

darraghmac, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 11:26 (sixteen years ago) link

We has a Wii. I haven't had a go yet, but my husband, his mate, and Onimo's kids have all given it the thumbs up.

ailsa, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 11:31 (sixteen years ago) link

people that can resist available wii are scary people, and not the kind of people i care for.

good day to you.

darraghmac, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 11:36 (sixteen years ago) link

Right so, a wii it is! Does one think online purchasing of said item = stupid or bargain?

kv_nol, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 11:39 (sixteen years ago) link

that is the question.

e-bay appear to have great offers, i'm just really unsure about it.

darraghmac, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 11:41 (sixteen years ago) link

Find the cheapest offer you can = teh win. Some of the things on ebay, maybe be less sure about. Read carefully, and pay with PayPal for extra cover.

Wii is awesums btw. I have been playing Excite Truck with Big Black as the soundtrack.

aldo, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 11:52 (sixteen years ago) link

ebay makes me feel like an amish person in a stripclub.

darraghmac, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 11:55 (sixteen years ago) link

What, horny?

aldo, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 12:00 (sixteen years ago) link

a little, yeah.

darraghmac, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 12:06 (sixteen years ago) link

You all have so much fluid dialoge going but my brain is still pained from too little sleep.

Misery, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 12:13 (sixteen years ago) link

My mind is now boggling about what darra searches for on ebay.

aldo, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 12:16 (sixteen years ago) link

this has gone too far, as usual.

kinda like an amish in a str...oh, never mind.

darraghmac, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 12:18 (sixteen years ago) link

kv_nol, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 12:24 (sixteen years ago) link

I had a weird kind of ego boost this morning. My editor called me to tell me that he is leaving the job. Sadface, because he's a good guy and I like him. It also turns out that the other abstract writer who started a month before me is leaving, and my editor says he is actually kind of relieved about this because he never really got the job. He has, for example, never made it up to the 100 abstracts a week that a writer is supposed to produce.

It's weird for me to realise that a job that seems so very easy to me is in fact not that easy for everyone. Having spent years struggling in the computer industry and in retail, I have finally found something I'm really good at. It's just a shame nobody values it as a skill.

accentmonkey, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 12:25 (sixteen years ago) link

Never really "got" the job, as in understood it, I mean.

accentmonkey, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 12:26 (sixteen years ago) link

komplett.ie has a wii with one controller for 260 not including delivery. I don't trust ebay due to past experiences buying a second hand ps2.

(xpost) well done accentmonkey!

kv_nol, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 12:27 (sixteen years ago) link

Sounds like your boss values it as a skill! That counts for something, right?

argh, I don't know how to cut through my brain fog. I seriously feel like I didn't sleep at all last night. so not cool.

Misery, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 12:28 (sixteen years ago) link

i don't understand what an 'abstract writer' does, i confess, but i'm willing to believe you do it very well, accentmonkey.

i'm trying to get euro prices on amazon, and it's denying me this basic human right /entitlement.

darraghmac, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 12:29 (sixteen years ago) link

Amazon £180, which is about 300 Euro.

aldo, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 12:31 (sixteen years ago) link

She does to writing what Jackson Pollack did to painting.

Darra, Amazon wants none of your socialist coin.

Misery, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 12:31 (sixteen years ago) link

my coin is not socialist, my coin is amish.

how many bushels of wheat is 300 of your pounds?

darraghmac, Wednesday, 10 October 2007 12:33 (sixteen years ago) link

Only 2% of America farms. The rest of us just consumes.
