So perfect! Well done.

wow! would buy for 30 dollars american on vinyl!

scott seward, Saturday, 5 February 2011 05:56 (thirteen years ago) link

anyone know someone at numero group?

scott seward, Saturday, 5 February 2011 05:57 (thirteen years ago) link

It is really good, Am, but I'd actually keep everything the same and put the 'Never Mind..' in a bright pink for better jarring effect. And then Myonga's 45/LP cover montage can be the full-cover inner sleeves

Stormy Davis, Saturday, 5 February 2011 06:09 (thirteen years ago) link

Nah. Works perfectly this way. The red and yellow faded into the background looks vintage like an old LP cardboard cover.

Gorge, Saturday, 5 February 2011 17:15 (thirteen years ago) link

plus it matches the do not carry drinks sign.

scott seward, Saturday, 5 February 2011 17:24 (thirteen years ago) link

I concur. (I've already updated the artwork in my iTunes playlist to include it.)

The great mysteries of this photo continue to reveal themselves:

* What, exactly, is the deal with her hair -- a reverse dye job? Pulled back and piled on top?

* Does the tiny Canadian flag means this was from a show there?

* Who owns the thumb on the left hand side?

* Why is glasses man pulling a face?

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 5 February 2011 17:28 (thirteen years ago) link

I keep thinking that's Rob Tyner behind him.

Son of Sisyphus of Reaganing (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Saturday, 5 February 2011 19:30 (thirteen years ago) link

ahahah, that is perfect, amateurist. i've got one other photo of what i believe is the same night. gimme a sec and i'll scan it.

tylerw, Saturday, 5 February 2011 19:57 (thirteen years ago) link

actually now that i look at it, it might not be the same night. unless bob did a wardrobe change before his set.

maybe a back cover photo?

tylerw, Saturday, 5 February 2011 20:41 (thirteen years ago) link

Ooh, lots of black space for tracklisting. Also great because it looks like he's boxing his own noggin from side to side.

tylerw, Saturday, 5 February 2011 21:00 (thirteen years ago) link

back cover!

scott seward, Saturday, 5 February 2011 21:05 (thirteen years ago) link

all we really need now is a cheap vinyl pressing plant THAT ASKS NO QUESTIONS.

scott seward, Saturday, 5 February 2011 21:05 (thirteen years ago) link

seriously!!

tylerw, Saturday, 5 February 2011 21:08 (thirteen years ago) link

Switch sides. The live shot is a better front cover. The other shot is great but too unfocused for the cover.

Hideous Lump, Saturday, 5 February 2011 21:10 (thirteen years ago) link

see for some reason i like the counterintuitive first shot being the cover but maybe i'm perverse.

scott seward, Saturday, 5 February 2011 21:11 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah i like the first shot just cuz there's something HAPPENING there, you know? i don't know what's happening, but it is happening.

tylerw, Saturday, 5 February 2011 21:12 (thirteen years ago) link

also the girl is cute

tylerw, Saturday, 5 February 2011 21:12 (thirteen years ago) link

girls and babies and dogs. sell records. that's what william randolph hearst used to say.

scott seward, Saturday, 5 February 2011 21:16 (thirteen years ago) link

Yeah the existing front cover is the way to go. I like the mystery there.

Mark, Saturday, 5 February 2011 21:30 (thirteen years ago) link

gatefold shot

tylerw, Saturday, 5 February 2011 21:46 (thirteen years ago) link

any of you blog-dwellers ever hear the pep perrine album on hideout? doesn't sell for a ton. curious though.

scott seward, Saturday, 5 February 2011 22:06 (thirteen years ago) link

Amazing shots all. I would drop some serious change on this.

talrose, Saturday, 5 February 2011 22:56 (thirteen years ago) link

also yeah the studio shot HAS to be front the cover. the seger with the mic shot is the back cover with track listing on either side.

Hey fellas, while we're at it here's the inside sleeve art I made for my humble edit awhile back

(& I used the righteous mike pic from upthread for the front)

Hadrian VIII, Sunday, 6 February 2011 01:14 (thirteen years ago) link

OK, so I objected that the studio shot lacked focus. Let's give it some focus:

Hideous Lump, Sunday, 6 February 2011 04:15 (thirteen years ago) link

the natural one is like, perfection tho

bear, bear, bear, Sunday, 6 February 2011 04:18 (thirteen years ago) link

I agree

love that we're all plotting out a hypothetical 2LP here

sleeve, Sunday, 6 February 2011 07:47 (thirteen years ago) link

well, it actually needs to happen. Lord knows that 2009-2010 were all about these amazing 2LP comps of amazing African, Asian music what have you. let's all band together as the ILX community and create this thing. we should setup a PayPal address from some anonymous shit, and if everyone through in like 10 bucks, they'd get a copy of the 2LP

We just need ppl w/ skills, both design and ninja wise, to make something relatively easy like this happen

wish I could contribute, other than the $$. I am big IT guy but never design

Stormy Davis, Sunday, 6 February 2011 07:58 (thirteen years ago) link

basically, we need to find a way to evade Bob's lawyers...

i bet it can be done!

Stormy Davis, Sunday, 6 February 2011 07:59 (thirteen years ago) link

cheap pressing plant that asks no question? eksmfg.com

not everything is a campfire (ian), Monday, 7 February 2011 03:26 (thirteen years ago) link

probably is that we need high-quality vinyl rips (like FLAC quality) otherwise the vinyl will sound like the shit MP3s that are circulating.

by another name (amateurist), Monday, 7 February 2011 03:33 (thirteen years ago) link

and by "probably" i meant "problem"

also the text on my cover art isn't perfectly centered. somebody want to re-do this and fix that? hey, anybody want to hook me up w/ a copy of photoshop for mac????

by another name (amateurist), Monday, 7 February 2011 03:34 (thirteen years ago) link

I have these as a WAV quality CDR thanks to Myonga, so that's not an issue (xp)

sleeve, Monday, 7 February 2011 05:06 (thirteen years ago) link

Thread is deindexed.

Pashmina, Monday, 7 February 2011 08:26 (thirteen years ago) link

but were the WAVs made from MP3s??

by another name (amateurist), Monday, 7 February 2011 19:09 (thirteen years ago) link

anyone out there have a collection of original Seger 7"s?

by another name (amateurist), Monday, 7 February 2011 19:09 (thirteen years ago) link

I didn't think so but Myonga would know xp

Haha, not me, nope xxpost! CDs and CD-Rs only. I am but a link in the chain.

That album cover art is breathtaking indeed! I can't look at that picture of Hudson's without thinking "Stay alive with the MC5!"

but were the WAVs made from MP3s??

there are ways to tell if a WAV has mp3 in its lineage...

a led zep of one (Edward III), Monday, 7 February 2011 21:39 (thirteen years ago) link

Oh yeah - all the files were originally mp3 or wma. The WAVs were originally mp3s that I tried to de-noise a bit (and usually wound up leaving mostly untouched)
