I still don't know what the Radio Dept. is, and that's despite seeing their name around for what seems like years. What is it that they do?

They make some polite, kind of electronic-based, Swedish pop music with some '80s ghosts hovering in the background.

i haven't gone back to the national album a lot but i was really into it over the summer (and iirc, i voted for it on my ballot). there's a kind of epic desperation in the songs. esp love the "i still owe money to the money to the money i owe" which turns all my economic anxiety into something like a dirge.

i think we all rly need to meet for an irl drink, wd prevent these episodes

Is that it for today? Just getting warmed up. Listening to Third Eye Foundation, so far pretty darn good, love the way its so busy yet so calm. I doubt if it would make my 25 but it's a keeper.

Never got around to checking the new National, after wasting time on their earlier material. If this can't crack the top 60 I doubt if that will swing it for me.

this kinda makes sense! you could describle zola jesus as glasser - rhythmic complexity + goth. though i disagree w/ not being able to love both of them, as i do.

the national not a bad pick for latepassitis thread imo, alligator stands tall over their others but boxer was the crossover moment iirc

heeee um er er er the Ulver album it's most similar to is Bergtatt tbh. and the Shining album has a completely different aesthetic (jazzy industrial-pop noisefuck). really what it is, is melodic trad BM but with really gorgeous production and a sense of *spacious grandeur*, and proggy structures. it kicks ass.

I need to hear Beach Head. On Patrol was top 10 for me, love that album

after that it would really be assorted tracks but you would also prob dig 'the state vs radric davis' which is his first real album after he blew up -- it's not as good as his mixtape but it has some really good & prob more straightforward stuff

after that 'from zone 6 to duval' has a lot of his best stuff from 08 or so but it's a bit less accessible
