I totally love my OB prof. Sadly, this unit only lasts through one more class and one clinical with her (we go observe labor and delivery on our own). It's just not enough time to endear myself to her and get her to adopt me.

i am staying home today because as i was about to leave for work i was overcome with awful nausea. ugh. no paid sick days. this is gonna suck when compounded with last week's small check.

(note, you will probably secure a real job with sick days. i chose a very stupid industry, and admittedly fucked myself over in a lot of ways when i took this job in hopes that it would eventually pay off and i could forget how miserable i am now).

i remember when i started to go into labor (induced) and some nurses were standing over me and my mom pipes up 'its must be great working in the maternity ward' and a nurse replies 'itys either great or really, really sad' and im all like 'god! shutup, mom!'

speaking of moms shes about to land in LA in a couple of minutes (from sydney AUS) to visit us for a month so im in the dreaded CLEANING MODE.

(i am generally good about pulling mine from the pile, but it's possible to miss stuff!).

Tomorrow is postpartum clinical day; I don't have to do labor and delivery until next weekend. I'm impressed that you let your mother come to your labor. I would NOT have been happy to see mine, and god knows what I might have said to her.

I swear there are charts and photographs for every other possibility under the sun in my book. Just not for these two questions.

* Men: 13.8 to 17.2 gm/dl

yeah, I don't get it, either (except for I do get that there is a lot of family pressure - my family was absurd about it. Upside was that they "got" that I was the parent of Alex RIGHT AWAY). That is the one thing that would drive me away from this area of nursing...

I did have a funny moment once when my sister's son, who IS circumcised, saw Alex peeing and said to H, "his is bigger than mine!!!" LOL Kids were about 6 or 7 then.

Home from clinical, had a really good experience, am now v. tired (b.c. my body never lets me sleep before clinicals).

panel was really, really hard. i estimate we had about 25% less money to allocate this year than last. made things really tough and draining. i feel like a jerk, but hopefully we made the right decisions!

Don't feel like a jerk; you did what you could with what you had. You can't do more than that.
