i really like this weird raspy croak that he's got when he sings his hooks ("nickelodeon", "haunted house") and originally i thought his mixtape tracks were too blunted to really register for me (whereas back to the traphouse is glossy as fuck and tons of fun to listen to) but i'm kind of digging the mood but maybe i'm just projecting

I'm also more tolerant of instareactions to mixtapes, which almost by design are meant to have a shorter conversational shelf life than albums. It's one thing when writers casts immediate judgement on years-in-the-making JT or MBV records; another when they fire off opinions about a Young Scooter mixtape most people might never get around to hearing
