ps I might pay good money to see photos of FB dressed as Molly Ringwald for Halloween. Well, I would if I had any money.

FIRST:
Of things to be thankful for, I personally include this. I traveled this year, and when I fly I say a prayer that has become a ritual: "Dear God, put your big hands under this plane and lift it up, and carry it forward through the air untouched and unharmed by other objects. And may its inner workings work. And put us down softly in our place of destination, and return us safely to our homes, and to those in whose lives we are enmeshed."
--Peggy Noonan

NEXT:
Remember I had that boss I hated? The one who said "unforch" and was an ass? Yeah my best friend keeps inviting her to parties and then wondering why I never go to her parties anymore.

squeaky fromme where? (jessie monster), Tuesday, 2 December 2008 23:29 (fifteen years ago) link

Hey Jessie!

La Push It (Susan), Wednesday, 3 December 2008 00:01 (fifteen years ago) link

Your best friend has odd judgment.

And it's great to see you here, jessie, although I question why you are making me read Peggy Noonan! (Every time Noonan is on television, I can't look away even though I kind of hate her... she's just so moon-batty that I have to watch.)

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 3 December 2008 01:38 (fifteen years ago) link

Yay Jessie! Uh at Peggy Noonan!

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 3 December 2008 02:06 (fifteen years ago) link

^^^^ what Ned said.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 3 December 2008 02:29 (fifteen years ago) link

So I made cookies today and tried something new - pumpkin chocolate chip cookies - and the kids pretty much hate them. (A. and I both love them - very soft cookies.) I had to promise J. that I'd make snickerdoodles next... hoping to fit that in next week somehow.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 3 December 2008 02:30 (fifteen years ago) link

hello monstar. i have no particular views on peggy noonan, but it should be remembered that i am an ignorant.

MINOTAUR FACEPLANT IS ITS OWN REWARD (John Justen), Wednesday, 3 December 2008 02:33 (fifteen years ago) link

also, tell your friend i hate that boss too, and that is why i have been refusing to attend her soirees

also, sara can you set me up on blind dates if i move to mpls, too? i discovered last night that a business connection has a mn opera connection that maybe i could call into play?

very quotatious (tehresa), Wednesday, 3 December 2008 03:02 (fifteen years ago) link

Hmmmm, right now I can set you up with either FB or my brother. But I can vouch that they are both cool, although very different from each other!

John, I am hating on you for having such a fun day, and also for somehow not being aware of Peggy Noonan. What bliss!

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 3 December 2008 03:14 (fifteen years ago) link

lol i could be your sister-in-law!

very quotatious (tehresa), Wednesday, 3 December 2008 03:24 (fifteen years ago) link

Which would be awesome in one billion ways and more!

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 3 December 2008 03:27 (fifteen years ago) link

I suppose men who love to go on hunting and fishing trips aren't your type, though? (My brother is also REALLY funny. Plus he owns a liquor store, so there's always an upside, right? You could hang with me while he went fishing!)

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 3 December 2008 03:28 (fifteen years ago) link

i am pretty much equal opportunity at this point hah! also yes, go fish and make me dinner, bitch, while i raid your liquor store and hang out w/ yr awesome sister.

I like this plan.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 3 December 2008 04:34 (fifteen years ago) link

Also in this plan: none of us are in school anymore and we have a ton of money and free time. THINK BIG

Aw, John, sometimes you are very dear.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 3 December 2008 05:02 (fifteen years ago) link

I will check that further in the a.m., after I have slept a bunch of hours. I have a mild cold and I want to get rid of it before Saturday; new mothers in OB clinical will not want me sneezing on their neonates.

somebody's got to sneez on kids or their immune system never learns the proper way to earn a living

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 3 December 2008 05:07 (fifteen years ago) link

Sara, those cookies sound great.

My job is increasingly demanding more critical thinking skills and executive decisions from me and I'm just not feeling up-to-task. I'm hanging on by a thread here for xmas break.

I want to work in an OB clinic. I think I'd like to work anywhere that doesn't involve sitting in front of multiple computer screens all day.

La Push It (Susan), Wednesday, 3 December 2008 14:00 (fifteen years ago) link

Bad things:

Sinus infection migrated to my chest and I was off work all last week in misery.
Work has no internets
Builders redoing my bathroom are redoing it very very slowly and I am camped out at my dads

Good things:

My dad, at some unspecified point, bought 4 bottles of really good tequilla for an un known reason, he doesn't like the stuff and has told me to drink it and I now feel healthy enough to do so.

Aren't you moving?

La Push It (Susan), Wednesday, 3 December 2008 14:08 (fifteen years ago) link

Yes, but I am rennovating my bathroom so I have a fighting chance of renting my place out.

Ed, Wednesday, 3 December 2008 14:19 (fifteen years ago) link

Smart. Kitchen and bathrooms, good investment.

La Push It (Susan), Wednesday, 3 December 2008 14:25 (fifteen years ago) link

yes. my parents' 'new kitchen' fund was hit in the economy crash which is sad, but i don't believe they'll actually get up the chutzpah to move anyway.

i am supposed to go to lunch today with a friend from undergrad who is doing auditions and in town and i just don't know if i have the capacity to try and be friendly and chit chatty when i am frustrated and tired.

very quotatious (tehresa), Wednesday, 3 December 2008 14:52 (fifteen years ago) link

oh hey I might be seeing Raphael Saddiq tonight and drinking lots of Grey Goose, all for FREE ^_^

You're all so perky this morning.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 3 December 2008 15:13 (fifteen years ago) link

i am the opposite of perky!

very quotatious (tehresa), Wednesday, 3 December 2008 15:16 (fifteen years ago) link

and i resent that accusation.

very quotatious (tehresa), Wednesday, 3 December 2008 15:16 (fifteen years ago) link

Apologies; everyone seems more coherent than me this a.m. Kids have a two hour late start day, which throws everything off. And Alex had a fit about writing a few sentences about acute, obtuse, and right triangles on his unfinished homework. So I'm grumpy. :(

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 3 December 2008 15:19 (fifteen years ago) link

I am...bleary. (Slight earache and crabby feeling.)

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 3 December 2008 17:07 (fifteen years ago) link

Yikes. Earaches aren't that fun. I took a hot shower after I dropped the kids off and that helped me some. (So obviously, Ned, you should try that at work.)

Confused: where did the Netflix review thread go?

Sara R-C, Thursday, 4 December 2008 01:33 (fifteen years ago) link

i moved it to ILE so that all may share in its glory

MINOTAUR FACEPLANT IS ITS OWN REWARD (John Justen), Thursday, 4 December 2008 01:40 (fifteen years ago) link

Whew, thanks. I thought I'd been working on homework for so long that I was hallucinating ILX threads.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 4 December 2008 02:18 (fifteen years ago) link

i love my labor prof so much. he signs his emails 'c' and also told us tonight that it's ok if we editorialize in our final papers. awesome. now to get him to cancel the final...

very quotatious (tehresa), Thursday, 4 December 2008 05:01 (fifteen years ago) link

I totally love my OB prof. Sadly, this unit only lasts through one more class and one clinical with her (we go observe labor and delivery on our own). It's just not enough time to endear myself to her and get her to adopt me.

Sara R-C, Thursday, 4 December 2008 05:06 (fifteen years ago) link

so remember how jordan got me that jim woodring original ink drawing as a graduation present? you probably don't. but anyway: it's a picture of pushpaw (the boy) thinking about pupshaw (the girl). for jordan's birthday i got him the reverse - through v v devious means.

john justen is probably the only person on this thread who will possibly appreciate the awesomeness of this (it's titled 'relative humidity', since the first one he did was called 'slight chance of rain'):

there is also a pencil sketch on the back, like a scrap piece of paper he was doodling on.

I always do Site New Answers so truly have no idea what threads are on what boards.

It is fucking freezing in Austin this morning.
