It should, but instead I get "Wink" going just by seeing the words BAGGAGE CLAIM up on the sign.

Vancouver airport has free wireless. Hurray!

It's the strangest airport I've been to on my 10 week trip. It has a tiny waterfall and native art dotted around the place. More airports should be like this...

What is everybody's nomination for best airport food? I haven't been in many, and haven't hung around to eat in the all the ones I've been in, but Detroit had a long concourse with a bunch of decent looking eats, and I was able to get sushi during a short layover.

I should have sought out this one the last time I was there. I had an hour to kill since after loading everyone on the plane and having us fasten the seat belts, they figured out there was a "loose piece of metal" on the bottom of the plane and we'd have to switch planes.

The Anchor Steam Brew Pub in the airport made a nice tuna sandwich that my expense account paid for, though.

Hello from Dubai. Only two hours to go before my connecting flight, but fortunately I have an excellent buffet not ten yards from my chair. I have been at the mini pittas and halloumi. But my body clock is fucked.

I am in an airport as well. JFK. It is well air conditioned in here. Thank you for the internet, JetBlue, it seems helpy.

phoenix, i bought a gq and the cologne ads were killing me. being the worst smelling thing on a plane is quite an achievement.

two months pass...

lax, frontier airlines, sleepy

get bent, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:22 (sixteen years ago) link

I miss the days of being able to just wander around an airport. Each time I go through LAX, I get "locked" inside the international terminal which is basically just one long hallway with a newstand, a duty-free shop, and a Burger King.

Pleasant Plains, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:35 (sixteen years ago) link

Hi, JBR!

Laurel, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:36 (sixteen years ago) link

LAX does have some of those caged in smoking areas that you can access even after you have been locked down. which is better then most

carne asada, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:38 (sixteen years ago) link

hi laurel! i'm sitting in a corner of the terminal and a couple of cute australian kids are playing with matchbox cars in front of me.

get bent, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:43 (sixteen years ago) link

St Louis has smoking fishbowls, too! They're actually better than usual, b/c they're not completely enclosed so the 4th side is open to the terminal, they must just have really efficient ventilation systems (b/c you can't smell any smoke outside 'em).

The best is still Minneapolis, though -- the smoking section is attached to a honest-to-god BAR, and it's just around the corner and down the hall from the best used bookstore I have ever been in.

Laurel, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:45 (sixteen years ago) link

I liked Minneapolis with their tiny little escalators.

Pleasant Plains, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:51 (sixteen years ago) link

memphis has a bar you can still smoke in. in terminal c i think, i know it's not in the same terminal as american airlines.

chicago kevin, Friday, 7 December 2007 17:56 (sixteen years ago) link

Nice BBQ place, too.

Pleasant Plains, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:00 (sixteen years ago) link

I will be in two airports today. Except they're Orange County's and Oakland's, and therefore there is nothing to say about them.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:06 (sixteen years ago) link

I am eating bbq in a terminal.

I'm not in an airport, tho.

gabbneb, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:12 (sixteen years ago) link

I remember standing outside Oakland's airport, trying to work the machine that gives you a bus ticket to the BART station at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. It ate all my quarters and I just stood there wondering what I was going to do when the bus came. (It finally spit out a ticket saying that I still owed a dollar.)

I got on the bus and sort of spazzed out trying to explain to the driver that I had put in the full fare into the machine, but it had short-changed me.

She responded by saying "It's cool! Relax, man. Have a seat." That was the moment that California won me over.

Pleasant Plains, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:12 (sixteen years ago) link

ill be in little rock airport today but not going anywhere. just dropping off.

anchorage airport is pretty sweet at midnight in december.

where is jbr going?

sunny successor, Friday, 7 December 2007 18:45 (sixteen years ago) link
