I have a sneaking suspicion that if you were actually skull-raped by something it would turn out to be a "violent sexual deviant" as opposed to "music". I could be wrong, though.
-- The Ghost of Dan Perry (djperr...), July 27th, 2005.

hmmm, maybe yr right. maybe i should really think about if i want to know music like that or just remain 'friends w/ privleges'...

i'm still aghast that someone from the DMB fanbase is SO violent.

HI DERE!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 27 July 2005 21:58 (eighteen years ago) link

Actually, thanks to legislation that I sponsored, writing the lyrics to "Crash Into Me" is now a felony in 13 states (and 2 Canadian territories!). Unfortunately, it is not an offense punishable by death, but rather by having raw sewage from a passing bus dumped on your head.

Not after reading this thread for the past year I'm not. It is very strange, since (as I said above and clearly no DMB fams bothered to read it) for all his musical shortcomings (which I also detailed above and no DMB fans bothered to read it), Dave Matthews certainly doesn't seem like he'd call people who didn't like his music "pussies," or suggest the skull-raping of anyone by anyone or anything. So why should his fans? Well, I think we (and they) have pretty well supplied the answer here.

The big question now is, who's going to make the LAST post on this thread? Or will it revive into eternity? That's a depressing thought, because that would mean that Dave Matthews's music will last through eternity. But we all know that won't happen.

Rick Massimo (Rick Massimo), Wednesday, 27 July 2005 23:05 (eighteen years ago) link

this thread will not die on its own, it will have to be put down.

Shakey Mo Collier, Wednesday, 27 July 2005 23:10 (eighteen years ago) link

this thread can not be put down. Regardless of its fate, it will live on in our hearts, in our minds. THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREEEEEEEE!!!

"I bet you they're emo kids. I fucking hate emo kids. "I'm so cool, I wear girl's pants!" What the fuck is this?"

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 27 July 2005 23:27 (eighteen years ago) link

For the record, before any DMB fan decides they need to try and 'rape my skull' with music, please know that I don't actually believe that Dave Matthews or any of his band should actually die.

I still hate that dance he does.

I also met him once and he seems like a nice enough guy.

"Crash Into Me" is still awful.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 27 July 2005 23:28 (eighteen years ago) link

Although it's more bearable if you imagine Richard Nixon saying the song title on Laugh-In.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 27 July 2005 23:33 (eighteen years ago) link

Ha! "Crash into ME?" That's hilarious.

In the grand tradition of Empty Nest and Hello Larry, Nick and Buzz now have their own thread. Cashing-in on their popularity:
Nick and Buzz: C or D

(Short-lived, no doubt.)

the only way this thread shall perish is in a horrific zepplin crash, much like the Hindenburg, but bigger and instead of people perishing, text will be set a'flame and severe Dune references will litter the landscape!

or it could always go 'Old Yeller' style...

or maybe old age.

perhaps nick n buzz will hax teh b0@rd!1!

Also, stupid hippies don't like DMB anymore. Whenever I hang out with rich, collegiate hippie-types they NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER listen to DMB.

I'm Hi, Jared Fogle (ex machina), Thursday, 28 July 2005 17:09 (eighteen years ago) link

also very true, DMB was much more late 90's frat hippie fare.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 2 August 2005 21:37 (eighteen years ago) link

Thse aren't hippie frat kids! These are hippie jamband kids with gay friends who live in CoOp housing and have keggers where we dance to Funkadelic and the wHo with FOG MACHINES.

I think we should give the thread another year, then lock it and have da Capo publish it as "Best Music Writing of 2006". Nothing else in the book, just this entire thread. They wouldn't even have to go find a hip guest editor like Joss Whedon or somebody, just use this thread as-is.

****Anyone Burned on the Gorge Stage Hand Posting for Dave Mathews?
Reply to: anon-93704133@craigslist.org
Date: 2005-08-27, 11:43AM PDT

Looking to pursue legal action against the promoter House of Blues and Flame Productions, for this posting for last weekend. Many of us traveled hours to work this concert, were on the list for stage hands only to be told we were Sh**t out of luck the morning of the concert because of overstaffing. I have a lawyer to pursue a class action suit for compensation for lost time, wages, gas, etc. Please email with your name and contact info if interested. A three hour drive only to find out none of it was true was not fun for any of us. Please contact Craigs List with your complaints so they can't do this again. We already have 5 others' info to get started and there must have been another 50 in the same boat. Don't let them get away with this. No one will get rich on this but a few hundred per person is realistic.

* this is in or around The Gorge

This thread is my favorite thing on the internet. Especially this part:

"And comparing him to Hitler? I think that's the rudest, most iggnorant thing I have ever heard. Hitler killed 6 million people. Dave makes 6 million people happy every year by putting on amazing shows and for a few hours, making them forget about all the shit that goes on in the world."

I like Dave Matthews himself, as a person... but I'd rather die than listen to a single song.

when he mumbles that hike up your skirt a lil more and then says something about na na na, i'm in the castle... he's teasing me like because he's getting laid and i'm not, i'm watching his gay video that the director refuses to tell anyone how he made... wtf?

grrrrrr, that sh** drives me bonkers.

I happen to love Dave Matthews Band! I can't imagine how much time those of you that don't have spent at this site bashing him and his music. It is fine if you don't appreciate the talent that the members have, but get a life and don't waste your time writing bad things about someone on the internet.
