Fuck Buttons are aces. But they are not quite 150 quid's worth of aces on their own, no. With Pissed Jeans too? Maybe, but, oh, I can never go to ATP. Come and play Oxford while you're over, Pissed Jeans!

(Sweariest thing I have yet posted from work! don't get me in trouble, you crazy music types)

a passing spacecadet, Friday, 5 October 2007 11:44 (sixteen years ago) link

Okay it (boy/girl?) is ridiculously cute!!!

kv_nol, Friday, 5 October 2007 11:46 (sixteen years ago) link

haha, that kid's got excellent hair

ailsa, Friday, 5 October 2007 11:47 (sixteen years ago) link

we used to call her 'it' too, but then found out she was actually called grace.

darraghmac, Friday, 5 October 2007 11:48 (sixteen years ago) link

Lovely name. Also OTM re. hair Ailsa.

kv_nol, Friday, 5 October 2007 11:49 (sixteen years ago) link

i'll pass it on. we're thinking about getting her tartan installations.

darraghmac, Friday, 5 October 2007 11:55 (sixteen years ago) link

So, wait, if the Pants-free gang are thinking of skipping ATP, how will I get my hands on Aldo's sausages?

(Seriously, I know you're all bored with it, but it never gets old for me.)

accentmonkey, Friday, 5 October 2007 13:22 (sixteen years ago) link

There will be a 2nd week of ATP, probably the following week. We are keenly awaiting news of curators before taking the plunge.

Are we to assume return to Camber means they're struggling to sell out Minehead?

onimo, Friday, 5 October 2007 13:25 (sixteen years ago) link

Didn't say not going, just not massively tempted by P4k weekend. Apparently announcement embargoed till 3. (xpost)

They sold out the Portishead one, so I don't see why they couldn't again. I suspect it's Hogan still wanting to say SOLD OUT despite being unsure he's got a decent enough line-up.

aldo, Friday, 5 October 2007 13:26 (sixteen years ago) link

I've been to one Minehead ATP and one Camber Sands. I thought Cambers Sands was way better. More atmosphere or something.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, Friday, 5 October 2007 13:32 (sixteen years ago) link

T/S:
Minhead has much better chalets - better condition and the notion of actually having rooms for everyone is better.
Minehead has free electric.
Minehead doesn't charge you for broken toilet seats.
Minehead has little women who come in when you are onimoed and do your dishes for you.
Minehead has big TVs for SingStar.
Minehead has a few possibilities for sunday lunch without having to drive.
Minehead has el cheapo cider farm on the way.
Camber has a fried chicken place, but it is shite.
It's much easier to carry drinks round in Camber, and the layout works better.
Camber has Dungeness, if you can be arsed going.
Camber has a better beach for rolypolys, even if there is piles of tarry shite on it.
The chalets in Camber are closer to the venues.
I only got chatted up the once in Minehead.

Tight call.

aldo, Friday, 5 October 2007 13:43 (sixteen years ago) link

omg i haven't been here in while

good morning and good tidings to all

=)

Surmounter, Friday, 5 October 2007 14:00 (sixteen years ago) link

We are happy to announce the first part of the Spring/Summer ATP's. We are also excited to be going back to the original home of ATP back down at Camber Sands, but we are giving fans the best of both worlds by doing one event at Camber and the second weekend at Minehead.

aldo, Friday, 5 October 2007 14:02 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh, that's the thing they asked me to do... yah, I thought Aqua and MAYHEM! would be good enough. Enjoy.

kv_nol, Friday, 5 October 2007 14:03 (sixteen years ago) link

pleaseletitbesomeonegood

I'm not that arsed as long as it's someone who might like someone good.
(ok Something tells me I'm into something good stuck in head now)

onimo, Friday, 5 October 2007 14:18 (sixteen years ago) link

Doing a bit of reminiscing here and I'm coming round to Camber again...

onimo, Friday, 5 October 2007 14:19 (sixteen years ago) link

Woke up this mornin' feelin' onimoed
Drank carly special, a stupid big load
'Cos last night I drank all the beers in ur neighbourhood
oh fuck
Something tells me I'm just about to spew

aldo, Friday, 5 October 2007 14:22 (sixteen years ago) link

I am hoping for a good lineup for the second weekend. Having got Neil to endure a day of getting pished on at Connect, I think my only chance of getting him to a festival next year will have to involve chalets.

ailsa, Friday, 5 October 2007 14:27 (sixteen years ago) link

Xxpost

For Camber: Better stages (compared to Minehead big one, lower attendance meant that queing only happens for occasional sets; Dungeness is close; nice memories of stupid sweets, chicken and Irish girls (not accentm) who want to talk to aldo in their chalet (thanks aldo), strange non-Irish women who want aldo to stab them in their chalet,Shellac, Danielson Famile, Cheap Trick, Mcluskey, Dead Meadow, Lightning Bolt, etc, etc (actually, too many to list)

Against Camber: There is nothing to do in the town (and I use the word advisedly) itself; Minehead has loads to do in Butlins and has some decent pubs in walking distance; nice memories of Singstar, rough cider, Dirty Three, Joe Mangle, etc.

I'm getting quite sentimental about Camber myself now...BUT If they announce a decent curator, Minehead will definitely sway me.

Guilty_Boksen, Friday, 5 October 2007 14:36 (sixteen years ago) link

For Camber: less pubs therefore better chance of bumping into people randomly.

For Minehead: dayglo goth bowling

ailsa, Friday, 5 October 2007 14:37 (sixteen years ago) link

I WOULD HAVE CHICKEN WITH ALL THIS IRISH GURLS

aldo, Friday, 5 October 2007 14:39 (sixteen years ago) link

Against Camber: the main pub has an impossibly loud sound system its hard to get away from when dancing.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, Friday, 5 October 2007 14:40 (sixteen years ago) link

For Camber: pub has giant dog and survived car crashing into it.

aldo, Friday, 5 October 2007 14:41 (sixteen years ago) link

For Camber: less suicidally slippy stairs up to top floor chalets

ailsa, Friday, 5 October 2007 14:43 (sixteen years ago) link

Against Camber: suicidally slippy stairs to top room.

aldo, Friday, 5 October 2007 14:45 (sixteen years ago) link

xpost

Giant dog wasn't there last time. Maybe the schox of the car crash did him in. And maybe they have knocked down another pub since we were there last.

FAP at Minehead worked better than any year at Camber.

Guilty_Boksen, Friday, 5 October 2007 14:46 (sixteen years ago) link

I think that had more to do with company, sunshine, and Andrew Farrell than the location.

accentmonkey, Friday, 5 October 2007 14:51 (sixteen years ago) link

Sunshine and company, yes, but Andrew was also at the Camber FAPs that vaguely worked (doing his normal thing of bringing people together)but not as well as Minehead.

Guilty_Boksen, Friday, 5 October 2007 14:57 (sixteen years ago) link

Was super-happy this morning and now after bummerz dr's appt and then yelling boss, no so happy. :(

Well done kevlol! A lifetime of debt is yours.

luna, Saturday, 6 October 2007 18:32 (sixteen years ago) link

I have finally got my wireless router installed so to celebrate I am posting here and playing Scrabulous (or at least have 3 games on the go). Expect piddly posting later, possibly.

aldo, Saturday, 6 October 2007 19:59 (sixteen years ago) link

Sorry, I was watching telly or I would have continued Scrabulous with you. I had NOT ONE SINGLE DROP OF ALCOHOL yesterday. On a Saturday!

ailsa, Sunday, 7 October 2007 11:06 (sixteen years ago) link

S'OK. As you have noticed I need a lot of practice or else I would not have left such an obviously stupid opening.
