I’ve loved Enya since I was a teenager and I just finished this
mini-album of remixes I did this past fall after a marathon revisiting
of her records. I’m really proud of it, but unfortunately I couldn’t
figure out a way to give it a legitimate release. I felt like if I
tried to get it to her through any of the usual channels it would
probably get shut down before it even made it to her ears.

So I’m posting it for free and hope that you might be able to help
spread it around??

^^ posted that before listening, I'm mainly just down for the illegal art distribution cause -- those are extremely reverent mixes that sound exactly what you'd expect them to

haha isnt dntel the guy from postal service

gr8080, Wednesday, 16 March 2011 05:01 (thirteen years ago) link

ya. i ain't gonna lie. i fucked w/that first postal service album. i also liked his emo band Strictly Ballroom (back when i was a kxlu groupie) and his early stuff as dentl was good (lol folktronica). i listened to the enya remixes and it wasn't at all what i was expecting. only drums on a few tracks. a lot of overcompression (which i wish would go away tbh) and overall very ambient. pretty tastefully done.

jaxon, Wednesday, 16 March 2011 05:54 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah feeling this.

gr8080, Wednesday, 16 March 2011 07:59 (thirteen years ago) link

I think there's some sort of mini-Enya renaissance now, which makes sense considering the current music climate. Cory Arcangel had an article in The Wire in the last few months about his love of Enya.

Enya is cool, I guess.

Max Mathews - Improv for Olympiad, 1971, soundtrack to a film by Lillian Schwartz

http://www.sendspace.com/file/6a2x97

Max liked Mozart & didn't like to call himself a composer because he considered his work to be more on the engineering / experimental side. The sounds on this piece are a bit on the simple / electric organ side but I still think it's wonderful

Met Max three weeks ago at his house, giving Geeta a ride after she'd finished a three hour interview with him. I was going to be playing a concert with him two weeks ago -- he was going to do a duet with Laurie Anderson skyping in from NY as he filtered / processed her vocals -- he had to cancel, but he still showed up to the concert. I was playing / diffusing from the center of the room in quad, he & his wife Marjorie were sitting right behind me, front row five seats over. He gave me a nod afterwards and took off, I had a whole slew of questions about Bell Labs ready to ask him next time we ran into each other... damn.

Legowelt - The TEAC Life

Ok people here it is the new Legowelt album which is free to download for u all
Its got a hella lot deep tape saturated forest-techno tracks on it and when I say Techno i dont mean that boooooooooooring
contemporary shit they call techno nowadays with overrated tallentless pretentious douchebag cunt DJs playing a few
halfassed dumb mongo beats and being all arty fartsy about it.

F*ck that, I am talking about: Raw as fuck autistic Star Trek 1987- Misty Forests- X-FILES,- DETROIT unicorn futurism made on cheap ass
digital & analog crap synthesizers recorded in a ragtag bedroom studio on a TEAC VHX cassettedeck in DOLBY C with an
unintelligible yet soulfull vivacity.

box set overview of GRM Studios, birthplace of Musique Concrete, not really compiled as a best of, more rare tracks / alternate edits. It's a lot to digest and all over the place, few people really rate that Messiaen piece for instance but it's his only work for tape and it'd never been released. A lot of great stuff on the final disc.

out of print, friend just asked for it, anyone who really wants it still wants it for the booklet & liners so I just reflexively posted here. fanatical sonoloco review here to help you parse files: http://www.sonoloco.com/rev/grm/c1030/grm1.html
