Stereo lies to your brain until your brain begins lying to itself.

the inside of geir's head!

irl lol! Was going to comment on only the noiser, later King Crimson being represented, but there's In The Court in the upper right corner.

What album is the woman with the flowing skirt in the lower right from, anyone?

what i didn't get is the bit where the viewer was informed that they might have two ears but only one brain, and that you listen with your brain -when i've seen bands play, it's pretty rare they'll put all their amplifiers in front of one another. they're spread out to widen the sound. in an example situation i hear a guitar on the left side of the room, and a guitar on the right side. surely reproducing that onto a recording is the most accurate way of making a live recording itself,

jumpskins, Wednesday, 1 December 2010 22:26 (thirteen years ago) link

it depends, i know some of the bigger tours (like a u2 tour) were going back to mono set-ups.

also, in a decent to big room, the amount of sound you're actually getting from the stage is pretty minimal, you're hearing the PA mix.

i've frequently had experiences in my life where sound is coming at me from more than one point. suspect my brain can handle it. i swear i've even occasionally heard three different sound sources at the same time. might just have been my imagination, though...

Every time I go to Jazzfest in New Orleans I like to pause at a spot on the grounds where I can hear traditional jazz, gospel choir and African drumming, or some similar combination, for a minute or two. I love the sensory overload.

i don't go to gigs in big rooms, i don't like popular music.

jumpskins, Wednesday, 1 December 2010 23:03 (thirteen years ago) link

Hey, jumpskins, do you think that video you posted is positing a serious position? Because unless you're really good at the deadpan thing...
