two really friendly girls were in my restaurant tonight, and they sounded american so i asked what part of the states they were from: 'oh we're from ontario, canada'. i apologised profusely (they were very gracious) and then leaned over and whispered 'i thought you were too friendly to be american' and we all LOLOLOLOLOL'd

no offense to any of you lovely americans, but seriously: the majority of american tourists in this country are fucking retards with bad manners. i don't know why these particular people all come to nz.

and they left me a $15 tip of a $75 bill, which is HUGE here. first time i've ever been tipped by a canadian (they are even less likely to tip than americans).

i am going to be an assistant to this guy who runs his own artist management firm thingy. will start out doing basic contracts/finance/travel/phones etc. and gradually work into managing his opera singers and conductors (so he can focus on his broadway/pops stuff) and then eventually start adding to that roster.

if it all works out ideally, at least. but yay! employment! it is shitty pay but as responsibilities grow i am supposed to earn more...

A) congrats on job! be forewarned, this excited to be around music people feeling will pass, and then you will slowly grow to loathe them.

B) the guitar player/sometimes singer in atmosphere is an old old friend of mine. his old band played a party in my living room, after which he destroyed an abandoned fridge with his bare hands. no joke.

C) just had an amusing back and forth with some ebay dude about the fact that the "promo" record he's selling was never sent out on promo. after he angrily asked how i was so sure, i informed him that my dad was the one who put the record out. no response yet. have to stop trying to help people on ebay.

re a) thank you! and... i know. but i have spent the last year dealing with theater people, so at least this group has a common interest. also i've always kind of wanted to get my revenge on those ppl by being the one calling the shots.
