and slightly less about vampires.

yeah "Vampire Money" isn't really about vampires, it's making fun of the bands on the Twilight soundtracks. love this album!

mcr only takes big blue dong money i guess (for their dylan cover in that hollywood abortion of watchmen)

well yeah it's a silly beef to have, but i enjoyed gerard's justification in an interview about how he's basically a snob about how vampires are portrayed and thinks they should be gross and scary and not young and sexy

only a few songs in but I may have a new favorite album of 2010

love the music video, even if I don't get any of the references at all
"gravity don't mean too much to me" is such a great lyric

i have decided to take the outfits in that video as my new style concept. all that yellow!

yeah "Vampire Money" isn't really about vampires
but see they have a vampire reference on every album, and, you know, i respect that in a band.

Finally listened the whole thing on the drive to Michigan last night, this is pretty goddamned great. I love this band.

I successfully introduced this to my kids as a possible substitute so we don't have to listen to Green Day on the way to kindergarten every day. Now it's, "Can we hear the Na-Na-Na song?" (Just hoping I don't get a note home about him yelling "fuck like a Kennedy!" on the playground.)

also the rockist in me probably thinks the second side > the first side because there aren't any singles, but those last four or five songs hold gorgeous surprises

re vampire ..
my fave part is the bass drone at the end (don't get me wrong, the song is a total belter)
the whole album is so crisp and sharp (which for once i really think works .. ), and then at the very end they drop this almighty bass drone at the end as if to say, "yeah, we know .. "
f*ckin' love this album ..

cranking the volume a little louder each time
post bottle of red wine, this can never be loud enough.
though suspect my kids/neighbours would disagree.

am always kinda surprised by the sustained love on this thread since a) i felt a little alone in my enthusiasm for the record at the time, iirc i was one of only a handful of people to vote for it in Pazz & Jop and the only ilxor and b) i haven't really gone back and listened to it as much as other people since then

So MCR is releasing 10 of the songs that were scrapped during the Danger Days sessions over the next couple of weeks. The first two, "Boy Division" and "Tomorrow's Money," came out today and they are nice and snarly!

well they shelved it so it's not really a development at this point haha

Gerard put a song on soundcloud under the name 'Danny The Street,' pretty good: http://kroq.cbslocal.com/2012/12/07/my-chemical-romances-gerard-way-releases-punk-track-as-danny-the-street/
― some dude, Tuesday, 18 December 2012 13:32 (eleven years ago) link
OK on sober listen "The Light Behind Your Eyes" is just too broad/soppy for me. Just a step too far into saccharine. On the other hand "Gun" remains ludicrously catchy, though I imagine they'd be in heaps of trouble had it been a single rather than a c-side.
