Right, right. Stupid thread idea; or decent idea poorly explained at best. I was thinking more of overall sonic similarity, not necessarily precise rhymes. Stuff like this:

Twisted Sister / Mr. Mister
Starsailor / Art Taylor
Bo Diddley / Bob Dylan
Bonnie Raitt / Johnny Ray

elvis costello / elton motello

the eagles / the beagles

I'm trying to think of this in terms of acts who I actually thought were the SAME act for a while, until I realized otherwise. So that would discount, say, Suede/Slade or The Kings/The Kinks or Jon Anderson/John Anderson or Trace Adkins/Rodney Atkins, but would not discount Ricky Van Shelton/Blake Shelton, who I conflated for years before realizing the error of my ways. There are others, I'm sure; maybe they'll come to mind. (Usually a certain proximity to each other genre-wise is necessary for this to happen properly.)

Oh yeah, a great one:

The two Paul Deans (X-Ray Spex and Loverboy) and two Mick Joneses (Foreigner and the Clash) don't really count, either.

But there are a couple famous blues names and jazz names where more than one guy (a decade or two apart maybe) has the same name, and those always confuse me. They're not coming to me right now, though.
