Spiritualized 'Medication' -- surely 1995?

No, it was released in its original take/mix as a standalone single towards the end of 1992.

Is it on the 'Compleat Works' thingy (which I own but haven't gotten round to)?

Enrique (Enrique), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 14:52 (twenty years ago) link

Yes Enrique, it's on that. I went with it since it was pretty widely available on import and so much of Laser Guided Melodies had been kicking around since early 1990 on singles.

Chris Ott (Chris Ott), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 15:11 (twenty years ago) link

Another good one. INXS' "Not Enough Time" would've been my pick. Also, I think Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" actually charted in '92 due to Wayne's World.

dleone (dleone), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 15:46 (twenty years ago) link

Yeah it was #2 or #3 for most of the Spring if I remember right, but, as with Ce Ce Peniston's "Finally" and KLF's "What Time is Love (America)?", which all charted hugely in '92, I left "Bohemian Rhapsody" for the year it first broke through - it's on the 1975 C700 which is in here somewhere. Shoulda put the thrash version of "3 AM Eternal" on here.

And was an NME Single of the Week.

Chris Ott (Chris Ott), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 01:46 (twenty years ago) link

Yeah, but the 12 inch was definitely 1990 - and wasn't it THAT which was the NME single of the week. 'Sides, the vinyl only has a live version on it and it's a bit pants.

edward o (edwardo), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 02:06 (twenty years ago) link

By which, I mean the 7-inch has a live version that pales in comparison to the real version, as featured on the 12-inch and the Greatest Album of All Time.

Das Boot! That's a great song.

My friend's older brother came back from germany with that CD and we ended up just randomly spouting things like "I wanna be a Kennedy! I wanna fuck Marilyn Monroe!" at each other for months.

MIA: Blur - Popscene...

Matthew Sweet's "I've Been Waiting" was a '92 single, since I assume "Girlfriend" gets the nod for '91.

yeah, 1992
