"Git enuff snorts fer ever'body!"?!

It seems so implausible that there was ever a company who wanted to associate their brand with ragged, illiterate hillbillies in the mind of the general public.

more on the old names, Faygo's original Mtn Dew-like drink was straight up called Moonshine. I remember as a kid seeing it available in the soda machine at Ridgecrest conference center in North Carolina and being curious. I ate a Moonpie there. And dad made me try a childhood favorite of his, Nehi Peach soda, which I hated.

Mountain Holler is an off brand name that always makes me giggle. I recall Save-A-Lot having a very funny name for their knock off Dew as well.

That is the Save-A-Lot brand? Maybe I was thinking of the Bubba line that they also sell.

Mountain Rush. But only because of the 70s hard rock connotations.

Used to drink Mountain Moondrops as a kid. Totally sounds like something that should be mixed with a psychedelic compound.

It's funny to me that the drinks listed in this thread that pre-dated Mountain Dew all have higher levels of caffeine.

((O_O)))

like no wonder moonshine is popular only if it's to take the edge off your raging caffeine buzz

my other display name is a random wacky phrase (dayo), Friday, 29 October 2010 23:58 (thirteen years ago) link

You think that they put three eee's to cover up the space above the word haw but when you think about it, they couldve just made a big H with two e's on top and underneath it.

I was only going off Wikipedia + the other I knew about ("Tiki Dew," at one point my brother had twelve 12 packs of it in his closet, which is gross in more ways than one). Sorry for the world's generic groceries that don't have crazy wikipedia members shopping these for generic Mt. Dews.

Ah not Tiki Dew, Tiki Mist.

Why SHasta makes two generic Mt. Dews is beyond me!
