like this is why I never go to festivals in general, more than a couple hundred people in one place turns nauseating pretty quickly

Should've been a stipulation that all acts have to have an animal somewhere in the name.
That aside, Deerhunter should really be on that ticket!

lol u went to burning man
― fakey (buzza), Wednesday, 27 October 2010 22:16 (2 years ago) Permalink
which, btw, did not involve 10s of thousands of people when I was going
― men just grunt it all out together (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 27 October 2010 22:21 (2 years ago) Permalink
also a few thousand people spread across a desert is pretty different from thousands of people packed into a festival field, in the good ol' early days of Burning Man at no point would you ever be in a crowd of morons.
also you could still drive around, burn things, carry guns/explosives/fireworks, and there were no cops
oh how things have changed

Wow, being an upwardly-mobile urbanite US music fan must be the absolute worst. I feel so sorry for you people who are forced 24/7 to hang out with mask-wearing fans of an actually-not-as-ubiquitous-as-you-make-out noise-rock band that I may actually start an awareness charity.
Actually no, I think I'll spend my time enjoying music and looking forward to ATP instead, bungholes.

lol i still love this band btw

Can't say I'm too mad for Dent May though. He's like a bad impression of Jonathan Richman playing a uke. Maybe he's more charming live though...?

Maybe i put this somewhere else but my friend made this and I still think it's pretty funny. He was convinced 311 has a big influence on Animal Collective.

so, new AC. the Panda track is better imo.Tare repeat the same tricks he pulled in Feels etc...the production sounds like old AC, which is great.
― nostormo, Monday, 7 May 2012 11:08 (1 year ago) Permalink
On first listen it's ok I guess. Doesn't feel like it has anything at all to do with 2012, which is not necessarily a bad thing but in the absence of new tricks I'd like some better tunes.

Both songs sound like Avey Tare to me.
― spastic heritage, Monday, 7 May 2012 12:38 (1 year ago) Permalink
yeah both are avey. don't get a feels vibe at all from these.
― mizzell, Monday, 7 May 2012 13:56 (1 year ago) Permalink
i really like the percussion. agree the tunes aren't great, but these were far from the best songs on the last tour.
― mizzell, Monday, 7 May 2012 14:12 (1 year ago) Permalink
Wow, seems ILM really has moved on from Animal Collective...not even a bit of abuse for old time's sake?
― NSFW Australia (seandalai), Wednesday, 9 May 2012 00:18 (1 year ago) Permalink
ya these songs haven't struck me very much yet, which as a fanboy is pretty rare for new Animal Collective material. I think maybe I'm not especially digging the sonic palette they're using, it all sounds a bit murky and indistinct without having other qualities to make up for that. But then I've seen them doing their latest set of songs a couple of times and listened to them a couple more and I don't really remember these songs, so whatever I still anticipate the album. V uninternetty response I admit, it's time to proclaim a shark jump.

Not sure what's '2012', but this comment sticks with me.
