Well....yes I know that.
Google seems to be of no help to me.
Actually, I need the exact meaning and not the references.

Seems related to fornication. Try a Latin-English dictionary & grammar.

It's a wartime code. Ofcourse!

Nerd Alert*-I learned this weekend that prostitutes in Rome used to ply their trade under supporting archways, or forna, hence the word fornicate. (Thanks, Monica!) This may be related, I don't know.

Fornit some Fornus> the Fornit is a sort of "typewriter-elf" that lives inside
a guy's typewriter and helps him write, and Fornus is the magic dust the Fornit
sprinkles to achieve said effect.

Ok, I was just kidding. Beth is correct.

I thought it was something to do with ovens.

I think Stephen King's deliberately misspelling "fornit sum fornus." But other than "sum" being "I am" I don't have a clue.
It could be mock Latin, a schoolboy joke... I googled, but the best I got was that "fornus" could be a form of furnus (= oven, furnace).

Oh, I wish I could get in a time machine and tell you what I think after I finally get into school and get my Latin minor...

Beth,

I want to know where you found the answer or how.

Crystal Shine, Monday, 8 November 2004 15:21 (nineteen years ago) link

I guess Beth read the story "Ballad of the flexible bullet" by Stephen King.

Fred (Fred), Monday, 8 November 2004 16:38 (nineteen years ago) link

I asked the question on a BBS that I am on and someone came back with the answer. I can't take credit for reading the story, but I will take credit for being the first with the answer :) The BBS is ISCA BBS check it out at www.iscabbs.com
