Ha ha ha I have a friend who is a dentist and when I asked about the talking thing admitted they only did it to have a rant at the patient. Lovely.

Aldo, does visit come with happy ending?

kv_nol, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 12:27 (sixteen years ago) link

Dentist visit with ear-tittery.

Any day, really. But I have better earrings.

Ahh, no, no happy ending.

1) No extras on the bill (not that you could afford, given NHS prices etc etc etbleedinc)
2) Not actually that attractive (either of them)

aldo, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 12:30 (sixteen years ago) link

attractiveness is a male construct to oppress women

darraghmac, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 12:31 (sixteen years ago) link

Aldo, you know my policy on babies. I cannot risk having one in case it turns out to be a MAN BABY.

Oh dear I have a referral to the periodontologist soon (read 6weeks plus) so maybe I will just skip wot you're going on about and report back re CAKES. I made I made:

- lemon and poppyseed cakes with ginger wine icing
- creme de cassis and poppyseed (why yes I had some seeds to use up, wai 2 u ask) muffins with CdC icing
- big ole ginger cake (5 types of ginger!) with lemon icing

All went down a treat!

And for my next partay I plan to make THESE:

Oh, it isn't this weekend, it is the weekend after this one, oh I rushed to get an extra baking tray at lunchtime for no reason. Phew! At least this means I don't have to go supermarket after work. Good good.

Sarah, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 12:34 (sixteen years ago) link

I used those pics with "Tuomas, yesterday" at one point. Disappointed with the apostrophe in possessive "its" from The Viz there.

I wish I lived nearer to Sarah. Oh hi, I was just passing! I would say. Oh, is that cake? I would add. Don't mind if I do. OM NOM NOM NOM oh, I've eaten part of your fridge too. Soz.

Ha ha otm.

kv_nol, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 12:40 (sixteen years ago) link

I know what I meant to say. I was talking to a Finnish girl last night, and can report not all the Finns are twats. Also, she thinks the reason there are so many Tuomasalikes in Finland is because of their language, which has no gender structure at all.

aldo, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 12:40 (sixteen years ago) link

There are 5 types of ginger now?

Guilty_Boksen, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 12:42 (sixteen years ago) link

I thought I'd tried them all, but five?

(mrs o would be slapping me about the head around now if I said that in her company)

onimo, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 12:46 (sixteen years ago) link

Why, doesn't she like ginger?

Guilty_Boksen, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 12:52 (sixteen years ago) link

Luna you are awesome! Truly appreciated. Like I said I have no idea how this kind of thing works so am doubtful but maybe something good will come of it one way or the other.

Have you moved in the last couple of years? I had your address in the past but I'm not sure if it's good. Also, the rest of you, send me yours if you please. The ILx mailto works. I missed out on the first round of postal exchange.

Is a baby currently coming out of Nath's vagina? I had planned on knitting or sewing something for the new bump but the due date creeped up so quickly. :/

Misery, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 12:57 (sixteen years ago) link

nope, i just spotted a post from her on the dinner thread so baby is still tucked away.

unless they have the interwebs hooked up in her hospital room...

Rubyredd, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 12:59 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah I just saw her on the Britney thread. she is ignoring us. I have to say that when I come on in the morning this thread is overwhelming with so many posts. Damn earth rotating and shit.

Didn't someone on ILx post from the hospital?

Misery, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 13:01 (sixteen years ago) link

i vaguely remember someone posting a pic from their hospital bed.

Rubyredd, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 13:02 (sixteen years ago) link

It is Mister M's birthday on Thursday, and there is nothing he wants. We are going to a gig in the evening (with Emsk! And possibly the Pinefox!) and I am taking him out for dinner beforehand. I am also planning to get up early to make him a lovely fry-up for his breakfast. What else should I do (apart from the usual rude suggestions)?

accentmonkey, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 13:14 (sixteen years ago) link

apart from the usual rude suggestions

haha, take him for a massage. Non-rude variety.

Misery, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 13:17 (sixteen years ago) link

Nooo! He does not like being massaged. He also hates sitting in the bath and having a haircut. I think he just gets bored very, very easily if he can't read or see a computer.

accentmonkey, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 13:20 (sixteen years ago) link

sitting in the bath and having a haircut

I thought you meant doing this at the same time which sounded very odd.

Misery, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 13:22 (sixteen years ago) link

Monkey: Dublinia. Why not?

kv_nol, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 13:32 (sixteen years ago) link

just do all the things he normally feels guilty about doing because you're there!

this is probably just me though, and mainly involves watching football.

darraghmac, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 13:36 (sixteen years ago) link

Does the thread title mean we can spam the board with our new blog posts? Fiery Furnaces review & Blow Jobs interview at RogueMag. Muahahaha!

the next grozart, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 13:43 (sixteen years ago) link

By the way - I really really really need a job. Anyone know any publishing/media/related companies in London who don't pay peanuts and who need someone with only a bit of experience but with a lot of enthusiasm?

the next grozart, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 13:44 (sixteen years ago) link

try the daily mail?

darraghmac, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 13:46 (sixteen years ago) link

I know of a DJ job at a hip-hop station in Dallas. You have to make an audition video though.

Misery, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 14:13 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh and an update for those putting in work, my brother is currently ranked number 7. This week and next they are interviewing the top ten so as long as he stays in, he'll get an interview at least.

Misery, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 14:14 (sixteen years ago) link

Jesus! How the hell are the others staying ahead?!

kv_nol, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 14:16 (sixteen years ago) link

They're probably all unemployed and have 20 million myspace friends. Actually I think you could write a javascript to keep refreshing. Hmm I shall have to think of how this would work. I wonder if the site maintainers would pick up on such shenanigans.

Misery, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 14:19 (sixteen years ago) link

Salad of all the gingers:

Fresh grated ginger
Ginger syrup
Chopped stem ginger
Ground ginger
Ginger wine!

And my friends bought me back some ginger liquer from Kernow so next time I make the cake there will be EVEN MOAR.

Sarah, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 15:39 (sixteen years ago) link

Wow, I don't know if I could take so much ginger. I had some ginger gelato once which was nice in it's near-hotness.

Misery, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 15:45 (sixteen years ago) link

Sarah have you ever had a dark and stormy? A friend was telling me about them last night and I must say, even though I'm not a huge fan of rum, it sounded tempting. She had one with ginger beer instead of ale, served up with a thin ginger wedge garnish and it sounded tatsy.

Michael White, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 15:51 (sixteen years ago) link

I have an ATP surprise for people that includes ginger (not cake or sossidge related).

aldo, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 16:19 (sixteen years ago) link

With ginger beer or ginger ale? Obviously I have both, (I never realised I was such a ginger freak omg my first boyfriend was ginger, perhaps it is his CURSED LEGACY - could be worse I guess). Sounds good, I don't have any rum at the moment though. MUST CORRECT. Nice bottle of Mt Gay, see you nice that will. I suppose I could try with both beer and ale, in the interests of science like.

Aldo I am not sure if I wanna kno...

Sarah, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 16:46 (sixteen years ago) link

I emailed you thru here Sam, so let me know if you don't get it.

That ginger cake sounds AMAZING, Sarah - good lord, I'm nearly drooling over here.

luna, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 17:08 (sixteen years ago) link

Argh forgot about Heroes again! This better be a quick downloot. I've been so slack with Heroes that I've still not been able to click on the thread since the new season started.

onimo, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 17:50 (sixteen years ago) link

I emailed you through here, too, Sam, but if that doesn't work I think, as a friend, you can see my address on facebook.

Have you ever had a headache that made it feel as though your head was a soft boiled egg getting the top banged off with a spoon?

luna, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 19:45 (sixteen years ago) link

:(

With me, it always feels like someone has banged a couple of railroad spikes into my temples.

Michael White, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 19:50 (sixteen years ago) link

I've had those, too - I have lots of different kinds, really, but this one is sort of new.

luna, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 19:54 (sixteen years ago) link

can't talk. so angry. need tequila fusion immediately.

Misery, Tuesday, 2 October 2007 19:58 (sixteen years ago) link

I shall use a version of that line later today, myself, Mis.

So, it's the top of your head, Luna? I've only had that from smacking my head (or having it smacked).
