ile really isn't even clogged up w/ soccer thread either... it's like, what, four threads?

J0rdan S., Sunday, 19 September 2010 22:16 (thirteen years ago) link

im not one of those complaining it clogs up ile btw.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 19 September 2010 22:18 (thirteen years ago) link

I've got 16 football-related threads bookmarked at the moment. I suspect having a sub-board would mean more rather than keeping them most discussion in the rolling threads.

Funny how no one ever complains about there being too many film threads on ILE.

Still think we need a 'hide thread' option but that's a different thing.

Matt DC, Sunday, 19 September 2010 22:24 (thirteen years ago) link

im not complaining! I just liked the idea of a board of our own, thats all.

if every thread was given a category like in the old days, that could be done i guess?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 19 September 2010 22:27 (thirteen years ago) link

should there be an I love Football?

ailsa, Sunday, 19 September 2010 22:30 (thirteen years ago) link

Good luck finding someone to categorise every old thread!

My biggest fear would be that ILF would ghettoise football talk a bit and there would be reduced participation leading to every thread turning into stale banter between the same four or five people.

Matt DC, Sunday, 19 September 2010 22:31 (thirteen years ago) link

which is what you complain about on the football thread anyway tbf!

stale banter between the same four or five people.

Just like the SPL thread then. We've made a successful model of this for about five or six years now.

ailsa, Sunday, 19 September 2010 22:41 (thirteen years ago) link

think the football peeps should take it to iltmi

cosign, thirded, whatever.

ailsa, Sunday, 19 September 2010 22:57 (thirteen years ago) link

If part of it is "I want to start more esoteric threads about football, but I don't want to clog the board up with 20 football threads a day" then you're basically no better than a politically correct local council refusing to put up Christmas trees in case it offends Muslims.

We could probably use an "I love polls" before "I love football"

I am using your worlds, Sunday, 19 September 2010 23:10 (thirteen years ago) link

tend to think not, just about

however if there is one, it has to be called i love football (and i'm probably one of the very few who read ~football~ threads and ilnfl)

think that everyone needs to concede that yr own personal belief in 'i love football' or otherwise doesn't in any way change the fact that it should exist i have read a book on this btw

can we have an i love conjuring animal spirits board

only if it's called 'i love soccer'

thread of 'random football formations' is proof that general shit-shooting footy threads can exist happily on ILE, fwiw- even though I support separate board.

xp there can be no mention of the 's' word

illiterate mods are killing ilx (darraghmac), Monday, 20 September 2010 00:27 (thirteen years ago) link

i'd go for 'i love footie'

no this is a good thing - by ghettoizing the topic you draw the real heads in and provide a disincentive for people who don't know what they're talking about - this leads to better discussion and way better/funnier threads

france bans luriqua (k3vin k.), Monday, 20 September 2010 00:30 (thirteen years ago) link

it would obviously have to be called i love soccer, that's a given
