I had a good weekend capped off by seeing how my cats reacted to some friends' dog when they came over for dinner. Unluckily I didn't get any good photos, though.

Completely by accident, we caught the first two episodes of Knights of Prosperity on Paramount Comedy last night, that sitcom about the people who try to rob Mick Jagger's apartment. It was pretty good, I thought. Shame it got pulled after 11 weeks.

I watched The Panel last night. Good fun.

I also couldn't sleep for more than two minutes last night without a nightmare. Really need sleep!

I don't like the Panel so much any more now that Dara's not on it.

An existing filling cracked. I suppose that's better than getting a new one but it's still a horrible thought. I hate dentists. Hate them.

I hate barbers more for some reason. Vanity I suppose.

It's a pity we're not allowed drink before dentist: Nod off in the chair and sleep through the worst of it!

I take the kids now so I have to be all "The dentist is a very nice man! Going to the dentist is Fun For All The Family!" and keep my hands behind my back so the kids can't see them shaking.

At the risk of sounding sexist, I have always had better experiences with women dentists than men. I find it easier to get them to ignore the shaking and crying that the approach of any needle causes in me.

My mum once laughed at my fear in a group clinic in Delhi. All you could hear was drills, I was shitting myself and she thought it was the funniest thing ever. Cheers mum. You are a good father Onimo.

My 2nd worst dentist experience ever was with an evil bitch from hell woman dentist. I don't differentiate between these bastards on gender.

Best and worst dental experience were with women dentists.

The last one was sweet and kind and understanding, but when I was 18 I had an abcess under a slightly knackered tooth. The tooth wouldn't pull out (weak woman, you see), so the dentist had to chip it out ONE PIECE AT A TIME.

Even with a local anaesthetic, I have never known pain like it - even the hott dental nurse holding my hand and mopping my brow didn't make it better. Mind you, I did get the afternoon off of college as my Politics lecturer bumped into me as I was bleeding profusely.

jesus, i haven't been to the dentist in 12yrs because i'm completely terrified of them. should probably go before i head over to the US next year, as i imagine it would bankrupt me to get dental problems over there.

I should have mentioned that bit - the pain from the tooth was so great that I didn't care. She sort of lanced the abcess first, iirc, then chipped at the tooth, then slashed the gums, then left me to bleed to death with a rather large piece of wadding.

Hang on, did we all go to the same dentist? The last time I went I had one "taken out" by a woman who sort of made A COMPLETE ARSE OF IT.

Anyway, I have just found out that the meeting I didn't go to today (late night in the pub, plus I had to tell my mate that his TOTAL CRUSH isn't going to happen) because of onimoed-type sleeping in was postponed for a week anyway, only nobody had bothered to tell me.

i was getting a filling on an upper tooth and it exploded- powdered tooth out my mouth and all over dentist and nurse. didn't hurt but they sure looked worried.

worst ever dentists experience was the first one- two extractions without warning, took about three minutes from needle to finish. i was ten. no lollies, warnings or smiles from dentist, who was working for health board. i had to go back the next week for the same again, and i threw my first and only proper screaming fit. they had to buy me hardback LOTR to keep me quiet after.

i've got a nice dentist now, he's quiet and doesn't make any sudden movements.

I wasn't left to bleed to death. I got stitches. The problem then was that I couldn't brush my teeth properly for 10 days or I'd have ripped the stitches so I had to suffer death breath as well. When I got the stitches out and finally got a good brush at my teeth it was an amazing feeling - I actually ran all the way home from the dentist to brush my teeth.

Yes mine does that. He seems to understand my responses, even if I don't.

That always happens - fill your mouth with strange metal objects, clamps and wadding then ask you how your holiday was.

Every female dentist I've ever had has shoved her tit in my ear, then asked "and how does that feel?"

I'd always assumed they were asking about their dentistry, but as the years go on I'm less sure.

Much like the question 'how do they expect you to answer with their hands in your mouth?', there is a 'how do they expect you to hear the question with a tit in your ear?' issue.

Ha ha ha I have a friend who is a dentist and when I asked about the talking thing admitted they only did it to have a rant at the patient. Lovely.

Oh dear I have a referral to the periodontologist soon (read 6weeks plus) so maybe I will just skip wot you're going on about and report back re CAKES. I made I made:

- lemon and poppyseed cakes with ginger wine icing
- creme de cassis and poppyseed (why yes I had some seeds to use up, wai 2 u ask) muffins with CdC icing
- big ole ginger cake (5 types of ginger!) with lemon icing

All went down a treat!

Oh, it isn't this weekend, it is the weekend after this one, oh I rushed to get an extra baking tray at lunchtime for no reason. Phew! At least this means I don't have to go supermarket after work. Good good.
