i just noticed a lot of stuff i listen to doesn't get submitted... is the artist info incorrectly put into the id tag? or is the stuff too obscure? (i've got pretty small time, no name stuff on my playlist.)

Doesn't have to match anything at all in their database. I've had things come up on mine that just say 'audiofeed005' or whatever. Is is not even making it to your 10 recently played tracks bit?

If you're just talking about the overall stats, then yeah, then it's probably just the current bug that they say they're working on.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 19:19 (nineteen years ago) link

This combines the internet, music, useless statistics, and voyeurism - my four favourite things!

Adam has unlocked the secret of a happy life. That comment essentially convinced me to join.

whatsa audioscrobbler?

its this thing you download, and then when you play music on your computer, it adds it to the thing, then makes a page of what you have been playing. if you get in a group with a bunch of people, it makes a radio station, in this case it would be at http://www.lastfm.com/group/ilXor and plays popular things in the joint list, like mort garson, for example

adam... (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 19:33 (nineteen years ago) link

It will not be playing any Mort Gorson.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 19:40 (nineteen years ago) link

Mort Garson is going down.

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 19:41 (nineteen years ago) link

:| (....), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 19:41 (nineteen years ago) link

Have you heard that Mort Garson track with Dizzee on it? There's a Superpitcher remix of that which just KILLS.

adam... (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 19:47 (nineteen years ago) link

Interpol are covering it on their next record.

Also Audioscrobbler publishes RSS feeds so you can read people's "last played" lists via an RSS reader (or a "live bookmark" in Firefox). I think the RDF/RSS 1.0 stuff is broken, which is a pity, but you can get RSS 2.0 feeds at URIs like

Chris, I like your stats the most if only because they are so pleasingly consistent with my idea of what I know/imagine you listen to.

I really like Mort Garson, though! I am missing one track off of Plantasia that I need to get off of you. Next time you are in SF, *@*.*, you must make sure to meet the ILM poster "milton", if you haven't already.
