As much as I love the guy and wanna see him win every fucking HW belt going, I still think he has zero chin

Peter "One Dart" Manley (The stickman from the hilarious 'xkcd' comics), Saturday, 15 November 2008 23:47 (fifteen years ago) link

Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Saturday, 15 November 2008 23:48 (fifteen years ago) link

Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Saturday, 15 November 2008 23:48 (fifteen years ago) link

Ref had a fiver on it ending in the fifth, clearly

Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Saturday, 15 November 2008 23:49 (fifteen years ago) link

haha wow Barrett hit him while Haye was down. He's gonna pay!

Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Saturday, 15 November 2008 23:50 (fifteen years ago) link

Can't remember if I've mentioned it here before, but I saw Haye's debut fight back on BBC2 in... 02? 03? Second year at uni anyway. The guy exuded star quality even then.

Peter "One Dart" Manley (The stickman from the hilarious 'xkcd' comics), Saturday, 15 November 2008 23:51 (fifteen years ago) link

must be out this time

Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Saturday, 15 November 2008 23:51 (fifteen years ago) link

Stick a fork in it

Peter "One Dart" Manley (The stickman from the hilarious 'xkcd' comics), Saturday, 15 November 2008 23:51 (fifteen years ago) link

Can't wait to see Haye get hugged by the Klitschkos for 15 rounds

Peter "One Dart" Manley (The stickman from the hilarious 'xkcd' comics), Saturday, 15 November 2008 23:51 (fifteen years ago) link

They would have to get near him first

Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Saturday, 15 November 2008 23:53 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm excited at the prospect of a Haye vs Klitschko fight. I just hope virginmedia dont take Setanta off us! (Or Pay per view on sky)

Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 16 November 2008 00:02 (fifteen years ago) link

I watched a bunch of old boxing matches today. If you've never seen Caveman Lee vs. John LoCicero you gotta get on that, totally amazing fight.

J0hn D., Sunday, 16 November 2008 01:13 (fifteen years ago) link

That the same Caveman Lee that got beasted by Hagler?

Peter "One Dart" Manley (The stickman from the hilarious 'xkcd' comics), Sunday, 16 November 2008 01:20 (fifteen years ago) link

Yeah I have that fight too and also watched it today - that was two fights later for Lee, he was really coming up and then Hagler one-rounded him. To be honest the Hagler fight looks kind of fishy if you've watched Lee scrap - Hagler's class, but hard punchers like LoCicero have a very hard time dropping Lee and then boom, he can't lay a glove on Hagler, crumbles quickly, vanishes for four years, fights two more fights and retires? Still, it's true that none of the guys he ran through were anywhere near Hagler's stature.

J0hn D., Sunday, 16 November 2008 02:30 (fifteen years ago) link

two weeks pass...

I'm in Australia tonight and won't be able to see the De La Hoya/Pacquiao fight :(

J0hn D., Saturday, 6 December 2008 06:27 (fifteen years ago) link

spoiler: pac-man wins

cankles, Saturday, 6 December 2008 06:51 (fifteen years ago) link

you & I both wish!

J0hn D., Saturday, 6 December 2008 10:06 (fifteen years ago) link

If accessibility is the problem then here's a list of places you should be able to watch the fight

Chubinder, Saturday, 6 December 2008 10:46 (fifteen years ago) link

I'm pretty sure I'll be on an airplane when it happens (I'm in Newcastle tonight and I'm flying to Adelaide eaaaarrrrrly tomorrow morning) but if I get to Adelaide in time then sir I am in your debt for that list

J0hn D., Saturday, 6 December 2008 13:54 (fifteen years ago) link

De La Hoya will get more consideration from the judges if this fight is close, but I don't think it will be close enough for that to come into play. I like pacman - unanimous decision by two points.

Aimless, Saturday, 6 December 2008 16:27 (fifteen years ago) link

Righto, anyone watching tonight's ITV punch-a-ganza?

The first match will be starting on ITV4, featuring a bloke called Tyson Fury. Who is six foot nine.

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 20:53 (fifteen years ago) link

I was just getting my dinner out of the oven, come back, Booty Luv are stood on the ring entrance, and they are singing. And then the Hungarian lad that Tyson Fury is about to pummel walks between them. And now here's Tyson Fury himself.

I do not get it.

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 20:58 (fifteen years ago) link

Tyson Fury could perhaps be described as a Julian Barratt-looking motherfucker, except he has shaved and is, like, six foot nine.

Rob McCracken! Whey!

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 20:59 (fifteen years ago) link

"Hennessey Sports in association with Brady House Hotel, Ireland, Golden Palace.com, The Sun newspaper, and Hooters of Nottingham..."

Poll?

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 21:00 (fifteen years ago) link

And Fury pops him in the belly and it's over in just over two minutes. That was not very interesting at all.

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 21:05 (fifteen years ago) link

So now there's how much time to kill before the main event? I hope that prelim was scheduled for, like, 3 rounds.

Aimless, Saturday, 6 December 2008 21:13 (fifteen years ago) link

BTW, I am not watching this. Just seeing what you post.

Aimless, Saturday, 6 December 2008 21:14 (fifteen years ago) link

Now signing off. Have fun. I hope it's a barn burner of a fight.

Aimless, Saturday, 6 December 2008 21:16 (fifteen years ago) link

I missed the second fight cos that lasted one round too. I am not sure what they're gonna do now. Gabriel Clarke has just interviewed Tyson Fury. Again. Now he's talking to his dad.

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 21:31 (fifteen years ago) link

Gabriel Clarke looks remarkably like a Tory MP who's about to be found out for something.

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 21:32 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay Hannah's letting me have the boxing on now. This one looks promising.

Carl Froch fight is on ITV at 10.45pm

Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Saturday, 6 December 2008 21:40 (fifteen years ago) link

This is looking like a very good fight, actually, that last round the momentum seemed to keep on swinging...

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 21:53 (fifteen years ago) link

Davis showboating like crazy here.

Me and Ruth Lorenzo, Rollin' in the Benzo (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 6 December 2008 21:55 (fifteen years ago) link

David

Me and Ruth Lorenzo, Rollin' in the Benzo (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 6 December 2008 21:56 (fifteen years ago) link

Boris Becker talks about poker, I turn to ITV1 where they're giving an award to David Renwick. Good on them, If You See God, Tell Him is class.

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 21:57 (fifteen years ago) link

Olivia Colman with the Twiggy-style haircut - good look.

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 21:59 (fifteen years ago) link

Referee's calling him Davis too, to be fair.

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 22:00 (fifteen years ago) link

This is a proper fight eh? Some mental shit from David, he's asking to be knocked down if he keeps blocking with his head like this.

Me and Ruth Lorenzo, Rollin' in the Benzo (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 6 December 2008 22:01 (fifteen years ago) link

His posture is remarkably similar to Titus Bramble's.

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 22:02 (fifteen years ago) link

Great fight. Wright looks remarkably together considering the pummelling his face just took.

Me and Ruth Lorenzo, Rollin' in the Benzo (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 6 December 2008 22:05 (fifteen years ago) link

Better right hand than Titus, though. Cracking knockout, that.

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 22:05 (fifteen years ago) link

And there's a match going on now that they're not showing.

And here's Boris.

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 22:06 (fifteen years ago) link

Drop Dead Gorgeous beats Skins to Best Comedy Drama. Sid from Skins - unimpressed.

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 22:08 (fifteen years ago) link

HERBAH HIIIIDE!

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 22:10 (fifteen years ago) link

This might read odd, but Jon Thaxton's face takes up the entirety of the front of his head. It basically looks as though the rest of his head has been weathered away to leave only his face.

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 6 December 2008 22:13 (fifteen years ago) link

loldley Harrison has lost again.

Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Saturday, 6 December 2008 22:14 (fifteen years ago) link

I think I basically mean that I can't see his ears.

Gabriel Clarke is not really a man who knows what he's doing, it would seem.
