Sovereignty for me. "I'm leaving Vancouver, and I don't give a fuck, cos I'm far from home tonight" pops into my head at least a couple of times a week. Saw them in Brighton and they were really good although the venue was shite. Second half of Post Nothing is blistering.

I know this was leaked like a month ago but sometimes it takes me that long to get into their songs. Also cool PJ Harvey cover.

Once again I'm bumping with no real insight, but the "Sex And Dying In High Society" cover is A+.

billstevejim, Saturday, 20 November 2010 16:32 (2 years ago) Permalink

ok so it's a TWO PIECE from CANADA called ""JAPANDROIDS"" who write songs with EMO titles like YOUNG HEARTS SPARK FIRE and it's not THE YEAR 2000???

Extremely easy DUD. Like the name tho.

TS: Japandroids v Japancakes

Gukbe, Saturday, 20 November 2010 21:06 (2 years ago) Permalink

Japandroids > Japanther >>> Japancakes

And, uh, these guys aren't emo. Try not to completely dismiss a band when you haven't heard 'em.

I still love Younger Us. What a rush.

Hinklepicker, Sunday, 21 November 2010 05:38 (2 years ago) Permalink

It really is a rush.

Rush. Rush. Rush.

1 year passes...

New one is like Hold Steady meets Husker Du. Or vice versa.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 16 April 2012 15:28 (1 year ago) Permalink

New one is really, really good.

if the formula contained only Hold Steady and Husker Du it was better. the problem is the emo vocals imo.
i like the loud, never ending guitar chords and the Gun Club cover is awesome.

nostormo, Wednesday, 9 May 2012 18:45 (1 year ago) Permalink

i dunno who these guys are before, and i didn't like the original song, but i like this cover.

also, kexp sounds really good for college radio. i'm used to college radio live recordings sounding like boomboxes.
the dick dale one sounds great, too.

Philip Nunez, Wednesday, 9 May 2012 18:54 (1 year ago) Permalink

I just got their new 7-inch in the mail... I love how the packages always come with airheads candy. It's such a nice little bonus.

billstevejim, Wednesday, 9 May 2012 19:06 (1 year ago) Permalink

Oh yeah, the song is cool too.

billstevejim, Wednesday, 9 May 2012 19:08 (1 year ago) Permalink

I was all excited seeing the Pitchfork review, thinking it was out today, but have to wait another week still. The stream will do for this week.

Is the version of Younger us same as that released earlier?

Hinklepicker, Friday, 1 June 2012 02:04 (11 months ago) Permalink

sounded it to me

Fas Ro Duh (Gukbe), Friday, 1 June 2012 02:05 (11 months ago) Permalink

there a few joints on this but pretty meh to me all around

i find their stuff to be way too earnest -- i need some cynicism, some self-depreciation, some humor

hearts colliding on a fire highway does nothing for me

Normally I'd agree, but they sell it so well
