Yeah last week they announced "voluntary" severance packages. They were only applicable at a level higher than him but everyone was encouraged to take a week off w/out pay if they didn't take the package.

We've kind of been waiting for the axe to fall any day. It's unusual for him to not e-mail me during the day so I'm not sure if he's busy or at home.

Guess I'll find out soon enough.

In other ridiculous news, J031 just called me frantic because she thought she'd lost her bank card and her driver's license. Turns out she put them in the pocket of a coat she decided not to wear yesterday. We are now 16 minutes late (and counting) for drinking because of this.

i just had 2 drinks with my sister and her friend and some other people i don't know. it is nice that my sister was here briefly, but i have to say that i'd almost rather have just come home after class than have to go out.

Okay, next week after our final our next class starts - maternal/child/family health. New prof wants to know what song represents "nursing" to us. (New prof = awesome or the fun kind of crazy?)

Going to bed, paper not done; it will absorb all of tomorrow and I'll turn it in digitally on Thursday, nearly having a nervous breakdown in the process. Great fun.

He got a decent severance package and will get unemployment. But every major computer company has laid off in the past couple of months. It's a tough market and I think since his work experience has been solely with them it might be a drawback. Also he hasn't finished his degree which is now his first order of business.

I'm more worried about him. I've involuntarily lost jobs twice now and it's a real blow to the ego. I can only imagine it's worse for him. :(

well here's the thing - you can fit many urinals in the space of one stall, so it ends up that they have more places to use (just not more to sit). funny story: the ladies bathrooms in the building where my one on-campus class has 2 "stalls" containing urinals. i think it must have originally been a mens room and then to meet the code, they just put walls around the urinals, so there are effectively 2 usable stalls for an entire floor of classrooms. awesome.

lobby done. now have to do backstage? i don't know dimensions for dressing rooms bc apparently they are in some book i didn't realize we were required to buy (when he said it was out of print i thought he meant it was a suggested nice addition to have if you could find it, not that i should be scouring used sites for it?!)

it is kind of zen to sit with a drawing board on my lap (which i know is kind of not allowed bc lines could get messed up but hey, i have a t square!) and put on ipod and be zen lobby master, but also i am tired and i think i am not using the right lead bc lines are too light and my tired eyes can't see them.

I was trying to find citations to support stuff I had written about an hour ago and the words were just swimming in front of my eyes. I have moved past zen anything and am moving on to the detached retina stage, apparently.

well i made some stupid dressing rooms and costume shops and i have no idea if they're right, but i'm done and i don't care anymore. my eyes hurt. did discover this kick ass gorecki symphony, though!

My friend is having a quickie wedding on sat. tonight is a batchelorette dinner and sat. afternoon the casual ceremony. Tomorrow night I have to go see a friend's band as I haven't seen them in a few years and they're about to call it quits. All good things though? Yet I dread them all. I am curmudegon who would rather stay home and read humongous books and knit.

I have three friends who are pregnant. Lots and lots to knit. Damn social life.
