plastic cups don't "clink", hope these Down With Webster kids aren't counting on 'foley artists' as their back-up career plan

still shocked DWW didn't blow up

since "Sugar" is here, might as well post "Right Round" which is almost as bad if not worse:

I may be one of ILX's biggest defenders of Dead Or Alive and Eiffel 65 btw. Possibly the only defender of Eiffel 65.

I actually can't imagine anything dorkier than a rapper using a sample of the Friends theme song.

that party in the Down With Webster video looks fun; not sure why they're being such pricks about it

Some dude otm re: "Live Your Life" also "Changes" is superclassic (altho both admitedly colored by the fact I heard both before the sampled songs).
I liked this awesome Flo Rida track called "Ghetto Techno" that I heard before "Low" hit and then wasn't even on his album, but that's it, pretty much. Most of his hits have been fun radio jams the first dozen times I heard them but kind of intolerable afterwards.
― fuck being hard, suburbs are complicated (The Reverend), Wednesday, 9 June 2010 11:55 (3 years ago) Permalink
rev, iirc you gave either/both of "sugar" and "right round" good reviews on the jukebox?
first flo rida thing i ever heard was also an awesome track that didn't end up on the album called "birthday". will also rep for "low" and "in the ayer" but he's been reprehensible since he discovered eurocheese samples.

Didn't review "Right Round". Said this about "Sugar":
I have no idea whether or when this will start to get on my nerves, but what occurs to me in the meantime is that the great thing about Flo is how completely unabashed of a sellout he is. He makes no bones of his pop-ness, because it ain’t no thang to him. I get the impression that the T.I.s of the world at least feel an appropriate measure of pious embarassment when attempting to pull off shit like this.[7]
As it turned out, "whether" was "yes" and "when" was "soon".

That beat is pretty much exactly the same as Weezy's "Something You Forgot," which is an awesome song. It literally could be the same beat. I actually like the beat, either way.

Also, some dude, the original song was already pop, so how exactly did Rihanna flip it into pop? I think it's great, I just don't understand your statement.
― rennavate, Tuesday, June 8, 2010 4:58 PM (Yesterday) Bookmark Suggest Ban Permalink
well, i should say U.S. pop, before she flipped it it wasn't going to be popular in this country as anything but a comedy internet meme
