I have eaten more guinea pigs than I can remember now after seven months in Peru. Better than rabbit, not as good as chicken. lots of dark meat and little bones.

coconut crabs: i like them i just shudder to think about how if given the opportunity they would surely open up a baby's skull and casually help themselves to the brains

I was going to post this eye-leech, but it sounds like the loa loa worm has it beat.

tbf it wouldn't actually help itself to the brains after opening up the baby's skull, it would call its buddy first
then they would divvy up and share.

What is the fish that looks a lot like the viperfish but has giant, almost opaque eyeballs that are a solid milky white? And kind of a more elongated head? I had a picture book as a kid with a giant full page photo of two of their faces and it was the "scare yourself by turning to it" page for sure.

also i saw someone mention loa loa & filarial worms are FUCKED UP (google @ yr own risk) but ill rep for roundworms specifically Ascaris lumbricoides:
Ascaris lumbricoides is the giant roundworm of human, belonging to the phylum Nematoda. It is an ascarid nematode responsible for the disease ascariasis in human. It is the largest and most common parasitic worm in humans. A quarter of human population is estimated to be infected by this parasite. Ascariasis is prevalent worldwide and more so in tropical and subtropical countries.
It can reach a length of up to 35 cm

I am the same way, esp about the lotus seed pods, and I didn't even know it was a thing! Every once in a while i have a really awful dream along these lines the specifics of which I will not divulge here, and even thinking about it makes me kind of queasy and disturbed feeling.

I didn't know it was a thing either until a friend told me about how she felt that way and I realized that I wasn't alone! Even just getting a quick glance at some of the images when I googled it for quoting purposes earlier had me nearly crawling out of my skin. *shudder*
