they seem to have a sense of humor about reflection and emulation. after all, these are the guys who brought a band that covered their own early material to open for them on a tour.

Goddamn, this version of "Boiling Boy", especially with the female vocals. Slaaaaaaaaays me...

Some of the reinterpretations are damn cool as well, nice to "hear" Ned on "Ambitious" and "Heartbeat" is stretched out wonderfully.

I finally got round to listening to the whole thing tonight, good work people! Wish I'd mixed my "kick drum" (actually the first blip from "Geiger Counter" by Kraftwerk) up a bit, but hey.

if we do another one i promise to not forget to send the file before i go on holiday so i can have something better quality than thrashing a £10 guitar into a the netbook internal mic with an out of sync freeware multitracker.

i loved being part of this but i was sad at how little overall female participation there was (i know trayce wanted to contribute but had to drop out). i hope we can actively recruit more chicks for the next project, cuz i know lots of women on ilx play music.

Well, I took the initiative and sent a quick Twitter message to Colin Newman (he's @headgit btw) letting him know about this and asking him nicely to please not sue us, and just got the following back, today:

Gotta say, I feel a bit weird, breaking up the flow of everyone's excellent covers with my 8-minute nouveau-splurge bedroom-art-attack. Makes me nervous when people are all 'this is great!' about the whole thing.

I can only assume that MaresNest sequenced mine after the prettiest, most radio-friendly song on the whole comp out of some sense of gleeful anarchism

I pussied out a bit by not thinking too hard about the sequencing, I knew Ken's was first, Meower last, the multiples had to be far apart and yours and mine (being long assed) needed to be apart too, nowt beyond that.

(that said, 'prettiest' even as meant in that sense is challenged by Sean, n/a, Elvis T and MaresNest...there's a lot of pretty, also a lot of kickass)

Hey - the sequencing's pretty good IMO! I'm not fussed at all; it doesn't seem too worked-out but it works, which is optimal. It works especially well as a double-album; each disc has a nice flow to it. ESOJ/S' one is quite long as well, btw ;-)
