Yes, I'm probably thinking it would be more productive than I think it would. Mostly I am just panicked about the driving I'm going to have to do for school in the fall. I should really listen to podcasts while I drive back and forth at least... I got out of that habit this past spring somehow.

What was your favorite podcast from NPR?

JOHN I AM COMING TO THE CITIES ON WEDNESDAY. If you guys are free that night, I might be able to come see your house. I am coming up for a meeting at 4 pm, but then planning to go to dinner with nursing school friends - so it would be later in the evening.

Is ITR dead? Guys?

Mark C, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 16:08 (fifteen years ago) link

The shocking possibility that I could be in the Twin Cities has obviously stunned everyone into silence FOREVER

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 16:19 (fifteen years ago) link

I've spent the past 24 hours trying to catch up on laundry and to figure out how I ever get anything accomplished when my children are home. (Answer: I don't)

But hey, we're going swimming this afternoon, so that's good.

AFAIK, we should be around after 7 tomorrow sara

BLACK BEYONCE, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 17:42 (fifteen years ago) link

just watched "F is for Fake" and now need coffee.

not related.

BLACK BEYONCE, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 18:10 (fifteen years ago) link

I have no idea what that is. We watched Wordplay last night and now all we want to do is work NYT crossword puzzles. However, I could use some coffee myself.

Let me know if anything changes re: tomorrow night. I will put your address in my GPS and plan to come see your house after evening bitch session with other nursing students. And hey, this time I probably won't wind up sitting on your couch until morning!

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 18:16 (fifteen years ago) link

Hmmmm, wait, is there anything weird I should know about the route from St. Paul to your house that the GPS might not acknowledge? Like, I don't know, bridges out or closed or whatever?

I could look at a paper map if I had to, but it's not the Hastings Way.

I'm glad to know that I won't have to try to swim to John and K's house.

i have been surprised by how NOT hot it is here. i was, honestly, really scared about how i was going to cope with the heat, but it's not even that warm. it's actually jordan who's the sissy about heat: he sleeps with this huge fan blasting in his face, while i've got two blankets piled on top of me and tucked up under my chin.

Rubyredd, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 19:36 (fifteen years ago) link

you're calling HIM out for being the sissy about the heat while you snuggle up under blankets?

THIS tell me that it is you who is wussiest.

not that i have a bleedin' clue about Fahrenheit mind.

tehresa, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 20:48 (fifteen years ago) link

Upt0eleven, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 20:49 (fifteen years ago) link

Upt0eleven, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 20:50 (fifteen years ago) link

tehresa, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 20:51 (fifteen years ago) link

I completely missed that part! <3 parks. and <3 beer. and <3 opera. which is it btw?

Upt0eleven, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 20:53 (fifteen years ago) link

i'm bored. i wish some of you lived here so we could go do stuff. jordan is at work and i'm having a kind of down day.

Rubyredd, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 20:57 (fifteen years ago) link

i think it is probably going to be scenes? it is something i chose we funded when i was on the arts council grant panel last year so i am a little hazy on details bc that was november.

tehresa, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 20:57 (fifteen years ago) link

There must be something like that happening in London this summer but everywhere seems to be about bleedin' pop concerts. I feel I should place my boozing within some kind of cultural context in order to legitimize it and opera would be so niiiiiiiiice.

Upt0eleven, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 21:08 (fifteen years ago) link

I did this out at Tanglewood this weekend; bottles of wine + Mahler 2 with Heidi Grant Murphy = yay

HI DERE, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 21:09 (fifteen years ago) link

I have picniced at Tanglewood but never been to an event there. Thinking about it makes me miss Sarah :/

Mark C, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 22:09 (fifteen years ago) link

Rubes, you okay? Hit me up if you want to chat about stuff and stuff.

Mark C, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 22:09 (fifteen years ago) link

Back from pool, and probably not burnt due to SPF 7,000,000 sunscreen.

RR, I wish you had been there to stand lamely in the water with me. Somehow my kids got old enough where I don't have to watch them anymore. ;_; Hope you are okay - down days are probably to be expected, but still they are no fun.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 15 July 2008 22:29 (fifteen years ago) link

Okay, why is no one here to stop me from walking on my treadmill? I am all alone and sad, and soon I will also be sweaty. ;_;

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 01:48 (fifteen years ago) link

Watching BBC documentary on art w/Simon Schama. WOW v v good.

I watched Texas Chain Saw Massacre this afternoon. It has been another odd film day. probably going to watch "The Kid Stays In The Picture" now.

BLACK BEYONCE, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 03:14 (fifteen years ago) link

Is the Schama doc based on his book Landscape and Memory?

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 03:59 (fifteen years ago) link

I have lived my entire life being afraid of seeing Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 04:04 (fifteen years ago) link

Actually, I don't anticipate that changing.

I'm done with the treadmill; now I'm going to finish writing a review of a board book. You just cannot imagine the excitement.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 04:06 (fifteen years ago) link

not sure, the title of the series is "Power Of Art", just watched the caravaggio segment. great great great.

BLACK BEYONCE, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 04:36 (fifteen years ago) link

I am boggling over John watching three films in one day. Honestly boggling over it.

My heart goes out to you. Still though, well worth doing for the future. A man needs a trade. Mine is being hawt. I was born to do it. Like some pop star who had a song or something with that name that I can't remember because I am tired.

hey guys, anyone interested/able to go to the State Fair the Thurs before Labor Day?

HI DERE, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 15:29 (fifteen years ago) link

Don't know yet if I can cut work, but I am definitely interested. What time? Maybe I could do a half-day.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 15:35 (fifteen years ago) link

Our friend M1ch3ll3 will be in town during the same time-period. I would like to coordinate with her as well, since she will also be going to the fair. I will email the both of you and BB.

Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 15:37 (fifteen years ago) link

Hmmmmm, sounds fun. Can you put me down for MAYBE? (I would just say "of course," but, you know, kids.)

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 15:58 (fifteen years ago) link

in a weird weak moment i just bought 'live - throwing copper' on itunes.

remy bean, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 16:01 (fifteen years ago) link

in a more common, sustained weirdness i enjoyed the song 'all over you' for the first time in at least a decade.

remy bean, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 16:01 (fifteen years ago) link

That's the one with "I Alone" on it, right?

HI DERE, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 16:03 (fifteen years ago) link

yep. and it was released in 1994, which makes me feel old as dirt.

remy bean, Wednesday, 16 July 2008 16:04 (fifteen years ago) link

i respect your right to make these decisions
