Listening to it now on 20jazzfunkgreats, I agree.

Yup, love it.

Anybody heard the Carl Craig and Moritz von Oswald reworkings "ReComposed vol 3" on Deutsche Grammophon?
― I am using your worlds, Saturday, 30 August 2008 19:38 (4 years ago) Permalink
i get mixed up with Carl Cox...

Have just been listening to the ReComposed thing - interesting, very crisp... not quite sure about it though...
― Kaliova, Sunday, 21 September 2008 16:02 (4 years ago) Permalink
I want more information on this ReComposed thing!
― mh, Friday, 3 October 2008 20:33 (4 years ago) Permalink
This ReComposed thing is great.
― Alex in SF, Friday, 31 October 2008 18:10 (4 years ago) Permalink
it demands patience but it is a good listening experience. i wish i was more familiar with the source material.
― brotherlovesdub, Friday, 31 October 2008 18:13 (4 years ago) Permalink
You've heard "Bolero" believe me. This sounds very little to nothing like it.
― Alex in SF, Friday, 31 October 2008 18:16 (4 years ago) Permalink
you're right, just checked it out.
― brotherlovesdub, Friday, 31 October 2008 18:27 (4 years ago) Permalink
Some of ReComposed sounds ok and some of it just sounds like the Craig & Von Oswald were fiddling with loops and either unsure where to go with them/bored. Very little fire in this collaboration, I think.
― Capitaine Jay Vee, Friday, 31 October 2008 22:52 (4 years ago) Permalink
no stateside release unfortunately.
― tricky, Friday, 31 October 2008 23:06 (4 years ago) Permalink
Yeah I guess there is an issue with the copywrite on the pieces. :(
― Alex in SF, Friday, 31 October 2008 23:06 (4 years ago) Permalink
we'll be getting this in on CD and LP at amoeba in the next few weeks (next, i think) but It's not gonna be cheap, should be around $30 for both formats.
as for the music, I love it. best listened to in one sitting!
― mikebee (BATTAGS), Saturday, 1 November 2008 00:18 (4 years ago) Permalink
oh and if you're *not* in SF or LA you should be able to get it through Forced Exposure.

i liked 'at les' but felt disappointed in 'domina'. i wish cc had used more effects on some of the instruments or participated a bit more in general but overall i think it was a great experiment. i'd love to see a show like that.

My jams:

Love the Jonny L one. The one that brings back big memories for me is his epic remix of Incognito's Out Of the Storm. I was big into Gilles Peterson's Kiss show in 1996 and this helped me transition into techno. It's all about 8m45s.

<3 this guy, #1 on my producer poll ballot. back on form this year too, with the cut copy remix and this

Also 2011 excellence:
I guess it's an "edit" because the changes are quite subtle, but extremely effective.

― jed_, Monday, 31 October 2011 21:16 (1 year ago) Permalink
I was thinking this the other day. Maybe DJ touring and remixes pay better?
― mmmm, Tuesday, 1 November 2011 09:31 (1 year ago) Permalink
Dj touring and remixes pay. better?
― Jedmond, Tuesday, 1 November 2011 10:10 (1 year ago) Permalink
ambivalent about a lot of carls 00s remixes..was never a fan of falling up, much prefer the orig

Wow, that Jonny L thing is fantastic ... I'd heard bits and pieces in mixes but not the whole thing.

Reviving 'cause I'm going to see him on Sat night and have realized that there are huge swathes of his output that I still know nothing about.Help a bluffer....

It's being billed as a 69 live show, so I'm guessing anything he's done under the 69 alias would be the place to start?
― Mr Andy M, Thursday, 3 May 2012 13:19 (1 year ago) Permalink
favourite 69 specifically:ladies and gentlemendesirejam the boxmy machinessub seducermicrolovrrushedpungtang
there were basically 4 eps released under that guise that were collected together as one lp 'the legendary adventures of a filter king', if you can find that you're laughing. not sure if he plays any of his non-69 stuff (guessing he does) but i'm jealous regardless.

Awesome, thanks :D
― Mr Andy M, Thursday, 3 May 2012 15:06 (1 year ago) Permalink
the 69 comp I've got is called "The Sound Of Music" and it's missing Ladies & Gentlemen and Puntang. 69 alias is my fave CC I think. Incognito remix my favorite remix.
― mmmm, Thursday, 3 May 2012 15:27 (1 year ago) Permalink
I think the Paperclip People album is still my favourite.
― millmeister, Thursday, 3 May 2012 15:34 (1 year ago) Permalink
^ Yeah I like the couple of Paperclip People tunes that I've heard so far, will check that out.Got Ladies and Gentlemen by 69 playing just now and it's a jam for sure.

has anyone heard the tom trago remix yet?
― the late great, Monday, 15 October 2012 15:45 (8 months ago) Permalink
"remix" - it's basically the original with some bits looped so he can mess around with the EQ, right? The original is stellar though so no complaints.
