I never made it to no "big snakey head thing"...I played the games, I was never quite "good" at them (except for Crazy Cavemen, but to be good at that game, you just had to kinda keep moving left).

My FAVORITE was actually Dr. Who. I (still in school then too) actually forgot to go to sleep a couple nights cuz of that game!

I used to play Gorf in my head when I was stoned.

It was a big red serpent head. Filled half the screen. I have a feeling it only appeared intermittently, like when there was a lightning flash or something. Am I remembering this wrong?

One of the last 64 games I bought was Bubble Bobble. Then I did something stupid and bought an AtariST.

Oh yeah. What am I good at?
Good god ya'll. What am I good for? Absolutely nothin'!

Um... I'm good at posting on iLX, quantitatively speaking anyway.
I think I'm a decent rockstar, I keep up with my journal pretty well, and I'm good at being appreciative.

I'd like to think I'm getting better at Web design... although unless I get even better still and pursue it as a career, I'm sure this is a really useless asset.

Come on, are you really shocked?

Martin, how do you hold the paddle?

Phil, I've not played much in years, except for a bit against a girlfriend who is England's #1 in her wheelchair class, and hoping to make the next Paralympics. I used to favour the more typically European grip. For a while, I played in the more Chinese style to try to give opponents a chance, but I got as good at that. I wasn't world class at this by a long way (unlike, say, Minesweeper) - I'd probably have got my blue at Cambridge had I stayed much more than a term, as I was very probably the best in the first year, but I also once played a guy who was then the UK #3, and he murdered me. I don't think I'd have ever got nearly that good, had I kept it up.

I'm quite good at socially ostracizing myself and complaining. Also quite good at droning on one guitar chord for a couple hours.

I have a sixth sense for knowing when another driver is going to pull in front of me without bothering to signal first. And I have an (I hope) unparalleled ability to piss off anyone I meet.

(Stuff I'm not good at but do anyway, since I spent the afternoon and evening getting the pages to work again: webcomics. a comedy and a drama. From last year. The idea was to see how much of a comic strip you could do without drawing anything, since I can't draw worth a damn.)

Ugh, I just realized that the thing that I'm best at in life is probably Nethack. I'm ashamed, but still proud. SAD.

I can play piano. I can draw okay. I can write okay. I'm good at Q-bert. I can read really quickly, which isn't always good. And I'm good at crossword puzzles.

Martin, I have NOOO idea how that works... The Chinese grip, that is. It's insane - when I try it, often I'll strike the ball at a funny angle and it'll go flying off to the side.

Yeah, it takes some getting used to, and it does give you less reach, but you can put on a lot of spin, and it's good for the really sharp defensive reaction shot too.
