I used to sleep in a t-shirt and boxers, but lately I've gotten into the habit of nothing. We'll see if this changes once it gets colder.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 8 September 2005 16:38 (eighteen years ago) link

I don't really know why I don't sleep naked more often. I love it.

I was surprised that you didn't!

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 8 September 2005 16:39 (eighteen years ago) link

Winter: flannel bottoms & a t-shirt (sometimes long sleeved)
Autumn/Spring: thin pants (like scrubs) & a t-shirt
Summer: boxers & a tank top or nothing at all.
this year has been a whole lot of nothing. or a t-shirt w/o pants. i kinda like sleeping naked in the winter if i'm sharing my bed with my bf.

Pyjamas! Pajamas! I can never decide on the spelling. They are the night time equivalent of umbrellas i.e a sign of civilisation.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 8 September 2005 16:58 (eighteen years ago) link

I usually just abbreviate it to "PJs", which is civilised AND economical! I wish I could wear PJs everywhere.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 8 September 2005 17:01 (eighteen years ago) link

I saw this stuff called Loungewear the other week! I'd never heard of it before, it seems to consist of a t-shirt and a pair of shorts.

nothing generally although if an extra duvet isn't enough I add a t-shirt in the winter.

it varies according to what's clean, but last night i fell asleep wearing a sleeveless top and some oversized drawstring shorts. often i'll wear a black cotton nightshirt.

mookieproof (mookieproof), Thursday, 8 September 2005 17:20 (eighteen years ago) link

In winter: Flannel pjs
Otherwise: underwear and a t-shirt or cotton pj bottoms and a t-shirt.

I only sleep naked if I have a shower at night and it's warm enough or if my clothes have been removed for foolin' round.

I think the only reason I don't sleep in the nude more is because most times I have I have had a naked lady sleeping with me, and, when alone, it's just kinda depressing.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 8 September 2005 17:32 (eighteen years ago) link

(xp) Do your chairs smell?

President Busch (dr g), Thursday, 8 September 2005 20:34 (eighteen years ago) link

When I was a child a man called on the phone and said he was doing an important scientific survey and asked me exactly this question, along with a series of follow-ups. The answer now is either nothing, or just boxerbrief/jockeys, or maybe those and a t-shirt, if it's really cold. And then sometimes I get mixed up and go to bed in a t-shirt and nothing else, Donald Duck style.

Is no one else somewhat mystified by Anna's sleeping in a "vest?" I'm hoping this is English for "tank top," or something similar. Although there is something hilariously Blossom-like about imagining Anna sleeping in boxers and a silk brocade buttoned-up vest.

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 8 September 2005 20:42 (eighteen years ago) link

Paunchy Stratego (kenan), Thursday, 8 September 2005 20:47 (eighteen years ago) link

vest in the uk is like a sleeveless t-shirt, which I think probably is what you call a tank top.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 8 September 2005 20:57 (eighteen years ago) link

Mais oui. I wonder if there's any linguistic distinction between the tank (no shoulders, slim straps) and the sleeveless tee (metrosexual hipsterism fad).

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Thursday, 8 September 2005 21:26 (eighteen years ago) link

UK vest has very slim shoulder straps, and the fabric is usually a little thinner than a t-shirt. It is mostly worn by old people as an undershirt, but Anna is not unique in being a woman wearing one at night.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 8 September 2005 21:26 (eighteen years ago) link

And nude.

nickn (nickn), Thursday, 8 September 2005 21:29 (eighteen years ago) link

The upside to that being, if there's a fire, at least I'll look okay with a pair of nice jeans or business slacks on, waiting for the authorities to arrive.

this sounds silly but you never know. when our house burned down in college, i was so relieved that i had left my clothes folded next to my bed instead of putting them away in the closet. i was able to greet neighbors and firemen in jeans and a sweater, as opposed to my cowering half-naked housemates.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 9 September 2005 12:25 (eighteen years ago) link

I usually fall asleep in the jeans I wore, unless it's cold and then I'll keep my shirt on. It's not that I really want to, but I'm still at home until I'm able to find a full-time position and move out. I live in a place so small that I've had to share a room with my 13-year-old brother ever since his birth, hence why I have to sleep clothed.

Raston Warrior Robot (alix), Friday, 9 September 2005 12:50 (eighteen years ago) link

My youngest brother was such a slacker that if he knew he had to be up early in the morning, he'd have a shower and put on the next day's clothes before he lay down on his bed to watch telly for the night. That way he wouldn't have to get dressed in the morning.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Friday, 9 September 2005 13:24 (eighteen years ago) link

as an addition to what i've already posted, besides the obvious "when i sleep naked" . . . i never sleep with underwear on unless i'm bleeding & using a pad. always underwearless.

Just boxers. Occasionally naked after friskiness, but usually boxers.

For some reason I get really hot in bed (no innuendo intended) and if I wear anything else I wake up soaking with sweat at 4am. Even in the winter.

It is vital, for me to get to sleep, that the room be like an icebox but the bed be lovely and cosy warm. Consequently I cannot sleep in my parents' house because they are LIZARD PEOPLE who need to have heating on all the fucking time, even at 1am.

OTM accent, I never have the heating on in the bedroom and have the window open as late in the year as possible. My dad and sister have impossibly warm houses; such waste.

my mom likes it freezing cold, with the window wide open even in the dead of winter. i'm not a lizard person -- i don't like heat as much as i like warmth. i'm happiest when the thermostat is around 77 or 78 degrees fahrenheit.

Half the time I don't even unmake the bed. I've got this microfleece blanket that follows me from reading chair to bed, and is washed with the bi-weekly laundry.
