Libble Invites

Despite the fact that I have a shred of human dignity, I spent the better part of lunch filling out that application, doing my best to restrain my snark and to address the questions as if they were being asked by a high school teacher. You don't have to like it, but you can't just be rude and dismissive. Hardest parts: weaseling my way out of answering the question about African American influence on Western popular music (seriously, CIO), and picking the best five albums of 1974. It was all too complicated, really. But hey, at least I think I proved I'm not an RIAA bot.

I have "Turn Me Loose" by Loverboy in my head.

Jenny, Thursday, 1 November 2007 17:58 (sixteen years ago) link

OK, all moved into the new place. 15 or so secured wireless connection aaaand...one unsecured!

Someone left a Brand New hoodie at my place, maybe Courtney?

Needless to say, thanks again for all the help! Even with two good feet I probably would've sat up all night thumbing through old yearbooks.

Lindsay's got a birthday on the 11th.

That was kind of an asshole move.

xxpost to myself - Here's the most disturbing thing about that thread: Nevermind came out the year half of them were born, or close to it. Jeez, I'm a creepy old dude.

kenan, Thursday, 1 November 2007 17:59 (sixteen years ago) link

No, it's cool. I miss stuff all the time. The only thing I noticed in that original post was Brand New hoodie.

jaymc, Thursday, 1 November 2007 18:00 (sixteen years ago) link

You had to have it your way. Well, I'm saying, "No way."

Jenny, Thursday, 1 November 2007 18:00 (sixteen years ago) link

Don't worry, Kenan. You'll never be as old as Kevin or I.

Jenny, Thursday, 1 November 2007 18:01 (sixteen years ago) link

Even with two good feet I probably would've sat up all night thumbing through old yearbooks.

Thus confirming what we've already talked about, that we have similar relationships to our past and the objects/memories from it.

jaymc, Thursday, 1 November 2007 18:01 (sixteen years ago) link

Despite some distinct differences, I think I could make a list of 50 quirks/traits/patterns/methods that John and I have in common.

Eazy, Thursday, 1 November 2007 18:03 (sixteen years ago) link

And John does do a mean E.Z. impression.

Jenny, Thursday, 1 November 2007 18:04 (sixteen years ago) link

Don't worry, Kenan. You'll never be as old as Kevin or I.

No, but I just realized something else alarming. I listed my age as 32. And now I know the answer to the question of how old I have to get before I start forgetting how old I am.

kenan, Thursday, 1 November 2007 18:05 (sixteen years ago) link

But hey, at least I think I proved I'm not an RIAA bot.

Wait, Libble Invites is a joke, right? Just like the OINK Invites thread was? Am I missing something?

jaymc, Thursday, 1 November 2007 18:09 (sixteen years ago) link

Happy Samhain, All Sts. Day, and El Dia de los Muertos, btw. It's also Courtney's one year Chicagoversary.

Jenny, Thursday, 1 November 2007 18:11 (sixteen years ago) link

xpost I dunno, it was fun.

I'm playing Samhain videos on you tube and it is not making Leslie very happy.

Jenny, Thursday, 1 November 2007 18:19 (sixteen years ago) link

we need to get Kenan up on the roof here

not hard to do at all, especially since I now live a five minute walk away from you.

Yay my hoodie is back! I was worried : ) It is beat to hell but has sentimental value. Well, as much as anything can have sentimental anything in my life...

coco, Thursday, 1 November 2007 18:23 (sixteen years ago) link

I like the Misfits all right, and Danzig has had his moments, but goddamn, that dude pwns him.

dan m, Thursday, 1 November 2007 18:23 (sixteen years ago) link

Really Kevin? Exciting!

coco, Thursday, 1 November 2007 18:24 (sixteen years ago) link

I am listening to "Mother" right now.

n/a, Thursday, 1 November 2007 18:25 (sixteen years ago) link

Also I am sad no one is posting in this thread: RIP Washoe

n/a, Thursday, 1 November 2007 18:26 (sixteen years ago) link

xp Clever.

Btw, I listened to the Br& New songs on their MySpace, and one of them was pretty good, but none were as good as "Jesus Christ."

jaymc, Thursday, 1 November 2007 18:26 (sixteen years ago) link

Nick, what do you say about something like that? A damn shame, is all.

jaymc, Thursday, 1 November 2007 18:26 (sixteen years ago) link

I was trying to find the old Brand New logo and put it aside the old Nelly Furtado logo, because I think they're the same psychadelic/olde-timey font. Instead I just found this poster, the title of which will be the Nick/Eric side project:

i just logged into gmail and have two responses for jobs that i applied to over a month ago. SORRY GUYS TOO LATE.

chicago kevin, Thursday, 1 November 2007 18:30 (sixteen years ago) link

I guess I was hoping the Washoe thread would lead into a general discussion of primate "language," especially because I am reading a book right now that deals with a lot of those issues. This book:

nice. xp (chicago thread title)

And now I know the answer to the question of how old I have to get before I start forgetting how old I am.

i started doing that past 28. i turned 29 but my brain would not acknowledge that. i don't seem to do that so much anymore.

JuliaA, Thursday, 1 November 2007 18:49 (sixteen years ago) link

The book is pretty good (so far, only like halfway through).

I was born to run,
I was born to dream,
The craziest boy you ever seen,
I gotta do it my way,
Or no way at all.

Jen: well, it's a post
i posted in your thread but I did not add to the discourse

Jesse, Thursday, 1 November 2007 19:25 (sixteen years ago) link

UPDATE!
I still hate her as much as I ever. The hate still glows in my heart like an everlasting flame.
She managed to say something mean to the newest coworker. Then on her way out, she passed me as I was carrying load after heavy load of beverages in to the office. She made some sort of disparaging comment about how she's glad she doesn't have my job, smiled real big, and got up on her tiptoes. I suddenly realized she was leaning up to kiss me, so I made an ugly face and turned my head so she'd only get my cheek. DO NOT WANT.

In other news:
* I need help picking out a printer for myself at work.
* I like the thread name idea.

KitCat, Thursday, 1 November 2007 19:39 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh and ALSO she went to the head honcho's office to give him a back rub in private. Ew Ew Ew.

KitCat, Thursday, 1 November 2007 19:42 (sixteen years ago) link

Crazy! Crazy!

Eazy, Thursday, 1 November 2007 19:42 (sixteen years ago) link
