Yup, she had 26 toes. Her paw prints are in a section of cement walkway my folks had put in a couple of years ago, so there is some proof.

Taqueria Moran, under the Cali stop. That's where you want to go, man. I only mentioned the TB down south because our old boss used to go there when he was having bad days. It's not even a walk-in restaurant, it has two drive thrus and that's it.

is that the place that's just south of the el on the east side of the street? or is it across the street from the station house on the west side?

chicago kevin, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 22:20 (sixteen years ago) link

Across the street. Best salsa verde I've had in my time here, and the rest of the food is pretty unfadeable too.

dan m, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 22:21 (sixteen years ago) link

People who've seen No Country for Old Men: is it important that I see it on a good screen? I'm thinking about seeing it tonight, and I can either go to the Davis, which is right near my place, or the Landmark, which I'd have to drive to but which is a better theater.

jaymc, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 22:27 (sixteen years ago) link

And by "tonight" I mean in a half hour.

jaymc, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 22:31 (sixteen years ago) link

yah, mang, it's Coen Bros, you want to see the bells and whistles!

kenan, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 22:34 (sixteen years ago) link

Sorry about the kitty, dan.

Not to be morbid or insensitive, but have you ever considered taxidermy on a deceased pet? I would probably do it with Brenda. But not the bird. That would suck.

Jesse, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 22:35 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah, I think I'll regret it if I don't. OK, later!

jaymc, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 22:35 (sixteen years ago) link

have you ever considered taxidermy on a deceased pet
sadly, yes. it's gonna be hard to say goodbye to my little mister man when his time comes. I'm not going to do it, but I have thought about it.

La Lechera, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 22:37 (sixteen years ago) link

rip pretty polly

La Lechera, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 22:37 (sixteen years ago) link

I have thought about taxidermying my own foot.

Jesse, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 22:41 (sixteen years ago) link

If I ever get testicular cancer...

oh, not even I can go on with this post.

kenan, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 22:48 (sixteen years ago) link

So the "dead girl in plastic" was no problem but taxidermy your own testicles and it's just too ridiculous/awful to postulate. Just trying to get the hang of this "posting" thing, that's all.

Laurel, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 22:49 (sixteen years ago) link

I've considered taxidermy on a living pet sometimes.

Jordan, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 22:50 (sixteen years ago) link

In defense of Kenan, he was just responding to my Laura Palmer pic.

Jesse, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 22:51 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah, I still don't know wtf the laura palmer pic was for. I was just trying to be wtf along with.

kenan, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 23:07 (sixteen years ago) link

i think jesse was talking about something else wrapped in plastic?

Jordan, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 23:07 (sixteen years ago) link

Alright ALRIGHT YOU GOT ME. I THINK DEAD GIRLS ARE HOT, OKAY?! I ENJOY SEX WITH THE DEAD! IS THAT A CRIME???!!!

kenan, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 23:08 (sixteen years ago) link

I said something (?) was wrapped in plastic, and I posted of pic of Laura Palmer b/c of Jack Nance's quote.

Jesse, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 23:14 (sixteen years ago) link

oh i missed the quote.

ok i am going away again, i have fallen out of practice with this whole "posting" thing.

kenan, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 23:16 (sixteen years ago) link

i should have asked someone for the Twin Peaks box for chanukah

Jordan, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 23:16 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh wow! I was going to say that the box set sucked, but they have a new Gold Edition that doesn't suck.

Jesse, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 23:19 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah, it looks sweet.

Jordan, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 23:20 (sixteen years ago) link

you said you had GAY PORN wrapped in plastic

i saw No Country at the Davis and was fine with the picture but i think i'm probably not as picky about that stuff as other people

my office party is thurs in evanston and i don't want to go home between work and the party so i was thinking i'd go see a movie at the big evanston theater in the afternoon. what should i go see?

n/a, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 23:56 (sixteen years ago) link

i put the twin peaks box on my amazon wishlist but i'd feel a little guilty if anyone actually bought it because it's kinda $$$. but i wouldnt' feel THAT guilty

n/a, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 23:59 (sixteen years ago) link

i think i'm choosing between "i'm not there" and "the mist" as movie choices.

n/a, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 00:02 (sixteen years ago) link

Jeff and I saw The Golden Compass this past weekend and it was entertaining. There are FIGHTING BEARS in it, which is cool.

I have often contemplated having Sample made into a cat-skin hat, with her face on the front and her tail hanging down in the back.

What else...

OH - there is a Taco Bell in the Thompson Center. More convenient than Ogilvie and you can walk from one or more Metra stops there via the pedway and NEVER ACTUALLY GO OUTSIDE.

I am getting a tattoo on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 5 PM from this guy http://www.timbiedron.com/index.html (getting something designed in the style of his paintings). He's IN DEMAND. I had to wait since July to even schedule this appointment for April.

Jesse, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 00:40 (sixteen years ago) link

Get this one:

Jenny, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 01:21 (sixteen years ago) link

I can safely say that if I were dating someone and they had a tattoo of a bloody bunny being stabbed to death by a carrot, I would break up with that person.

Jenny, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 01:22 (sixteen years ago) link

No, wait. This one:

Jesse, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 04:06 (sixteen years ago) link

tonight i swam (badly), played basketball (pretty badly), and bought plane tickets to new orleans

Jordan, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 04:33 (sixteen years ago) link

I got the Laura Palmer pic. There was (maybe still is) a Twin Peaks fan-club newsletter called "Wrapped in Plastic."

jaymc, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 06:19 (sixteen years ago) link

Also, I esp. like that owl drawing.

jaymc, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 06:20 (sixteen years ago) link

So what we've learned today:

- Laura Palmer wrapped in plastic = classic
- ANTM-hopeful wrapped in plastic = dud
- Judging Kenan harshly and rashly = dud

Jesse, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 13:59 (sixteen years ago) link

And owl pictures = classic

Jesse, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 13:59 (sixteen years ago) link

i saw No Country at the Davis and was fine with the picture but i think i'm probably not as picky about that stuff as other people

I should've just seen it at the Davis, since I wound up missing the first 5 minutes. I don't think I missed much, though.

jaymc, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 14:25 (sixteen years ago) link

I <3 the Davis.

Dan, I'm sorry to hear about the kitty. :-(

For the record, I would never want a pet stuffed. I would just get a new (live) pet. Just like I don't appreciate open casket viewings AT ALL.

Bosses are out again today! WOOP WOOP!

KitCat, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 14:40 (sixteen years ago) link

Aaaannnd they came in after all. :-(

KitCat, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 14:59 (sixteen years ago) link

I am getting a tattoo tonight!!

Jesse, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 15:25 (sixteen years ago) link

First five minutes = some Tommy Lee Jones voiceover, and Llwellyn hunting. He shoots some deer-like creature, wounds it, follows it, sees a wounded dog, then tracks the dog to the drug deal site (guessing you came in around there?).

Jordan, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 15:26 (sixteen years ago) link

Jesse, what are you getting?

Jordan, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 15:36 (sixteen years ago) link

this, only in watercolor-style?

that little fella is so cute i can't stand it

La Lechera, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 15:43 (sixteen years ago) link

I can't find the image anymore, but it's a silhouette of Don Quixote.

Jesse, Wednesday, 12 December 2007 15:47 (sixteen years ago) link

A coworker brought in her dog this morning. She is a really sweet poodle named Maude. She sat on my lap and rested her head on her paws for a while.

Yup. I came in as Llewellyn was surveying the carnage. The guy at the box office assured me that all I was missing was a "monologue."
