pretty sure i've liked rap songs with similarly bad punchlines, i think what makes this so much worse is how slow and drawn out it is. like i feel like i can count the amount of brain cells activated per second.

well the song is super annoying -- lloyd is terrible on the hook and that beat is just ugh

god i just facepalm every time i hear "i fill her up -- balloons!"
― A. Whiney Drown (some dude), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 01:23 (fourteen years ago) link
i think that might be the worst one ever because a. it doesn't rhyme b. it's impossible not to sound like a huge ponce when shouting "balloons"
― hipster puddy (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 30 March 2010 01:25 (fourteen years ago) link
"i fill her up" is a pretty terrible phrase as far as sex raps go too

For what it's worth (it's not worth anything), the guy is clearly saying "...grocery bagged." Which makes a tiny bit more sense.

I'd like to take this moment to point out Drake's weird mannerism of pointing down+sideways. Why does he do this? What is he pointing at?

RE: "grocery bag"; I believe the line is "and I got her nigga.... grocery bagged."I think he's saying she's ready to go. This in no way diminishes the stupidity of this line.

imo the finger pointing is actually one of Drake's less annoying tics, the thing where he constantly holds out an open palm and shakes it is way weirder

and yeah, it's pretty clearly "bagged" but I certainly understand why it's more enjoyable to pretend that's not the case.

i dunno i just never heard it that way or saw it transcribed that way -- anyone have an a cappella? we need to get to the bottom of this.

i remember being on the subway in like 2004-2005 and hearing two girls loudly arguing about whether cam'ron was a good rapper. And one of the girls used this line as an example of why he is lousy .
She put her foot on my balls... Now it's a football
Although I've found no evidence of this line actually existing, it still tickles me, and seems like the mid-00s version of this convo.
― choom raider (Whiney G. Weingarten), Sunday, 4 April 2010 22:44 (fourteen years ago) link
craziest part of that is your addiction was apparently so bad, you'd hallucinate when you were "on the subway".

I really shouldn't have tried to google that line
― The Reverend, Monday, 5 April 2010 00:48 (fourteen years ago) link
i had a shortlived epiphany that gudda gudda was actually saying "grocery bagged," which would make sense in the context of "she know she bad, and i got her nigga grocery bagged" as in, her husband murdered and his dead body put in a grocery bag (get it?). but i listened again jsut now and it's pretty clearly just "bag."
― tmi finney (samosa gibreel), Tuesday, 13 April 2010 17:38 (fourteen years ago) link
i wish there was another Young Money rapper named Grocery Bag that was being referenced in the line
― the ship!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (some dude), Tuesday, 13 April 2010 17:40 (fourteen years ago) link
young money should start branding environmentally friendly gudda gudda reusable canvas grocery bags -- start getting rap to go green imo
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 13 April 2010 17:40 (fourteen years ago) link
"I got her grocery bagged" is pretty simple to parse; it's like saying she's in the bag, gift wrapped, ready to go home, hot to trot. Timbo and Justin run the same awkward metaphor in Carry Out. But again, I am sympathetic to y'all WANTING this not to make sense.
― forksclovetofu, Tuesday, 13 April 2010 17:45 (fourteen years ago) link
man, weezy should have his mouth scrubbed out with soap for "i knock her lights out, but she still shine"
― tmi finney (samosa gibreel), Tuesday, 13 April 2010 17:46 (fourteen years ago) link
ha, i always felt a bit uncomfortable hearing dream sing "just call me ali the way i knocked your ass out"
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 13 April 2010 17:49 (fourteen years ago) link
xp i agree that if we were to probe gudda gudda's brain (as terrifying as it might be), that's definitely the most likely interpretation, but the connection between what you're suggesting and the actual phrasing of the lyric is tenuous at best. if i had time i would make one of those diagrams with the red and blue circles, name one "things gudda gudda's got" and put "GROCERY BAG" and "A WOMAN" in it. you know?
― tmi finney (samosa gibreel), Tuesday, 13 April 2010 17:51 (fourteen years ago) link
well it's not as if gudda gudda is famed for his inflection. he's better known for his work in physics.
― forksclovetofu, Tuesday, 13 April 2010 17:55 (fourteen years ago) link
the implication is obvious -- it's still a remarkably terrible line
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 13 April 2010 18:02 (fourteen years ago) link
As with all grocery bag rap, the problem is that it doesn't go anywhere or do anything beyond the one line. Like, if anything else in the verse had to do with groceries it would almost feel like this cleverly built up punchline that you don't even see coming until it's like, haha, this was all leading up to the grocery bag! Brilliant!
Along similar lines, I think an opportunity was missed here to do more with the Flintstones theme....like at least one of these shmoes should have been going on about, like, "I be wearing boulders / all you got is Fruity Pebbles"... or, I mean, that Wayne, for some reason trying to find a way to refer to the fact that he makes his girl run back and forth, goes with "soccer team" instead of, like, "She wanna leave, but she won't go far / she be running out of breath...FRED FLINTSTONE CAR!!!!" I mean that needs some work cause I just came up with it in thirty seconds but I feel like that's more time than these guys spent on their verses so hey.

but yeah if they did a remix with like Fabolous on it he'd totally do a goofy Flintstones-themed verse and tie it all together
