er, I'm guessing that the definition of lemon party that's causing such consternation is not the one I know...

patita, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 18:59 (sixteen years ago) link

I DEMAND THE RETURN OF MY INNOCENCE!

Of course, Ma'am. Did you keep the receipt?

Michael White, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 19:11 (sixteen years ago) link

Per urbandictionary.com: lemon party = Closly related to the infamous "tubgirl" site. If one goes to www.lemonparty.org, you will withness a old-man threesome. One sucking dick and the other two making out. Possibly the most horrifing thing one man can ever witness. sic

luna, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 21:27 (sixteen years ago) link

Great, there goes ever reader's innocence.

Pray tell, madam, is there indication why it's called a lemon party, specifically?

Michael White, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 21:32 (sixteen years ago) link

wow, yeah, that's not the lemon party I knew. egads.

the one I knew was like a slam book, and I don't even want to ponder what kind of horrible thing that might become as a website.

patita, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 21:57 (sixteen years ago) link

I know what patita is talking about. I believe that website is called Noize Board.

Thanks for the definition Luna, that's all I need to know.

Ms Misery, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 23:33 (sixteen years ago) link

I have come to the conclusion I don't understand ILX any more, and maybe I should just stay off it.

aldo, Thursday, 20 September 2007 12:23 (sixteen years ago) link

No, stay on. It's dead enough lately. Don't need the good ones leaving.

WAKE UP EVERYONE!

I have my first user testing lab in two hours. So far it's gone a bit star-shaped but I shall pull it off and learn from my mistakes.

Are you all Onimo-ed?

Ms Misery, Thursday, 20 September 2007 12:24 (sixteen years ago) link

i think it's called a lemon party cos old men make faces like they're sucking one during intercourse.

just a theory.

darraghmac, Thursday, 20 September 2007 12:26 (sixteen years ago) link

It's not that gross a picture really now, is it.

No, I have not been onimoed since I don't know when. I've just felt like shooting myself in the fucking face, or sticking my head in the oven, or something for about a week now and any time I've tried to cheer myself up in the seconds I've got free by clicking on a thread has just been depressing as fuck. Pages of middle-aged men pretending to be teenagers is no fun - that's what every other forum is full of.

aldo, Thursday, 20 September 2007 12:39 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm really sorry to hear about your depression. If the internet isn't helping, it's probably best to step away until you feel better.

Ms Misery, Thursday, 20 September 2007 13:05 (sixteen years ago) link

You are right. Thanks.

aldo, Thursday, 20 September 2007 14:38 (sixteen years ago) link

aldo, sorry things have been so rough.

patita, Thursday, 20 September 2007 14:49 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah, aldo, my sympathies.

Michael White, Thursday, 20 September 2007 15:21 (sixteen years ago) link

um when should i go on my lunch brak

Surmounter, Thursday, 20 September 2007 16:24 (sixteen years ago) link

I've not been in the no-location thread enough. Hi everybody!

Aldo, if you'd prefer I can try and act like a middle-aged man (I'm 23. I was three years old when Spaceballs came out! This totally isn't helping, huh).

But you are one of my favourites! Instead of head-oven, come get a pint in Montreal. It will be fun!

Will M., Thursday, 20 September 2007 16:26 (sixteen years ago) link

Of course, Ma'am. Did you keep the receipt?

No, it was a gift. Is it too late?

Good morning (or afternoon/evening) the rest of y'all - happy Thursday! Or something! I am so very tired and I really have no interest in being at work, and my dog was sleeping on my sweater this morning, but I couldn't find the other one, so now I sort of think I smell like him, but I'm not sure (and no one is complaining or making weird faces when I walk past, so that's got to be a good sign, right?) I think maybe I shouldn't have had that coffee.

luna, Thursday, 20 September 2007 16:37 (sixteen years ago) link

Thanks for the kind words, but I think I need to take Sam's advice. I'll see you all whenever I get back.

(There's a 'I (should Write Zings Not Tragedies' joke lurking somewhere, I'm sure.)

aldo, Thursday, 20 September 2007 16:55 (sixteen years ago) link

Bleh. Made an arse of that too. I'm off before it gets any worse.

aldo, Thursday, 20 September 2007 16:55 (sixteen years ago) link

and my dog was sleeping on my sweater this morning

Last week I hurriedly put on a sweater that I hadn't washed for a while and that I wore several days running when I was sick last month and while I was on the train, I could smell it and got all self-conscious. Ugggh.

Hope things get better, soon, aldo.

Michael White, Thursday, 20 September 2007 17:12 (sixteen years ago) link

hi will!!

I saw this little beast again yesterday. Leyna Trout is her (somewhat odd) name and yesterday she was so rambunctious I didn't get a single photo of her. She's seven weeks old.

Michael White, Thursday, 20 September 2007 17:32 (sixteen years ago) link

looking forward to when you come back, aldo!

This talk of sweaters reminds me of a Russian lady (Tatyana Tolstaya) who said that the right way to drink vodka was to chase it with strong pickles or something spicy. Lacking these things, take a deep whiff of an old coat. Dry cleaning is not as common in Russia, she explained.

patita, Thursday, 20 September 2007 17:34 (sixteen years ago) link

Her first book of short stories is great, patita.

Michael White, Thursday, 20 September 2007 17:47 (sixteen years ago) link

Hi Surmounter! Long time no see. Did you see my new pics on WDYLL?! My head doesn't look deep in them!

Will M., Thursday, 20 September 2007 17:53 (sixteen years ago) link

An AVP (Associte Vice President) has just put a nix on the site we were about to launch in a week. Nevermind his people wrote it, the dept's director approved it and he was NEVER named as a stakeholder he's put the brakes on.

I'm about ready to murder. He ain't my fuckin' boss.

needless to say I had a two margarita lunch and am now about to into a mtg buzzed. rock.

Ms Misery, Thursday, 20 September 2007 18:28 (sixteen years ago) link

You want me to hold him while you stomp on his nuts, Ms Mis?

Michael White, Thursday, 20 September 2007 18:31 (sixteen years ago) link

Mmm, nut stomping.

I think actually my other team members will do their best to keep me from confronting him face to face. They know I spare nothing when pissed.

It's what keeps me young.

Ms Misery, Thursday, 20 September 2007 18:42 (sixteen years ago) link

I absolutely cannot stand that kind of asshattery, Sam. I'd be furious, too.

luna, Thursday, 20 September 2007 18:45 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm about to go home and continue drinking. I've been working 16 hour days for nearly two weeks and I'm done. Until monday.

Ms Misery, Thursday, 20 September 2007 18:57 (sixteen years ago) link

Have one for me, chica. xx

We went a wee drive tonight to see the QE2 leaving Greenock on her 40th Anniversary. The whole area was gridlocked so we ended up finding a nice viewing spot on the hills above the town.

This is from miles away and having to use the digital & optical zoom:

onimo, Thursday, 20 September 2007 19:15 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh I thought you meant the Queen. That's just her boat, right?

Ms Misery, Thursday, 20 September 2007 19:20 (sixteen years ago) link

I was going to say, "She's really let herself go."

Michael White, Thursday, 20 September 2007 19:22 (sixteen years ago) link

It's not even her boat, just named after her.

It was one of (if not the) last ocean liners to be built on the Clyde. Today is the 40th anniversary of the launch so it's quite a big deal in these parts, particularly as it's being decommissioned in a couple of months and will become a floating hotel in Dubai.

onimo, Thursday, 20 September 2007 19:31 (sixteen years ago) link

It was one of (if not the) last ocean liners to be built on the Clyde.

Knowing how many ships were built there, that just sounds weird. :(

Michael White, Thursday, 20 September 2007 19:39 (sixteen years ago) link

a floating hotel in Dubai.

I wonder if MJ already has his cabin booked.

Ms Misery, Thursday, 20 September 2007 19:54 (sixteen years ago) link

Hey, Onimo, that looks like really near where we were too! We stood on a fence in a car park, the wee viewing point between Port Glasgow and Greenock up the top of the hills. Neil didn't get home until after 5, so we decided to avoid the M8 and even attempting to get into Greenock and came up the back road up near your house. We were going to give you a ring, but figured if you were going for a nosey, you'd have been somewhere anyway, or unable to get anywhere quickly due to traffic.

(I have my home internet connection back on now, hurrah)

ailsa, Thursday, 20 September 2007 21:36 (sixteen years ago) link

holy crap Ms. Miz, that's wretched behavior. Jerk.

patita, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:26 (sixteen years ago) link

Wait waht? We were standing on that fence!

onimo, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:29 (sixteen years ago) link

Eh, when? We left when the ship was just about where it is in your photo, maybe a wee bit before? It was bloody freezing, so we only stayed for about ten minutes.

ailsa, Thursday, 20 September 2007 22:33 (sixteen years ago) link

We were there from 5.30pm until just before 6pm. We drove down the hill a bit for a better view just before it pulled away from Greenock.

Some poor wee retired shipbuilder was close to tears on the news last night. Longing for those glorious days of stealing carpets during fitting out :)

It's hard to believe the Clydebank yard hasn't launched a ship for 35 years. The last one was the Alisa, funnily enough (and I know that's not your name, it's just what people keep calling you).

I think I am having a wee bit of a P(re)ND. Is it hormones? Is it sleep deprivation? Cold? Or WHAT? I just know I want to sleep the daze away. I am looking forward to my parents' arrival which is going to be next week. HURRAH! I am not looking forward to check-up to discover how much I have gained. hah. Also not looking so much forward to pushing baby through my vagina again. hahahah Just kidding. Sort of. :-)

nathalie, Friday, 21 September 2007 09:50 (sixteen years ago) link

We got there just at the back of six, just before it pulled away, and left when it was about where you took that photo. We must have just missed you by a couple of minutes or so. Still, at least we got your space on the fence :-)

Baby is getting HUEG and is stealing all yr blood/oxygen/energy.

onimo, Friday, 21 September 2007 10:42 (sixteen years ago) link

I know! My lung capacity is probably half of what it normally is. I also have a crap way of sitting behind comp, so feel even "awfuller" when breathing. Sometimes I have to stretch and just take a big gulp of oxygen.

nathalie, Friday, 21 September 2007 10:57 (sixteen years ago) link

Nothing's wrong with wanting to sleep in your condition, is there nath? Have a lie-down.

Ms Misery, Friday, 21 September 2007 13:20 (sixteen years ago) link

wow...the QE2 looks nice in that photo. would like a few weeks floating around on that, doing karaoke, or whatever happens on cruise ships.

today I have a terrible hangover, I am good for nothing. I have to interview someone at 4, which is insanely annoying but has to be done. I just want to play Wii and eat fruit and rehydrate myself a bit.

also I wimped out of daily swim due to hangover...where is my discipline!

ps: aldo hope you are feeling a bit better. i guess things like that go in phases, I have had some really low days in the last year or two, and a month or two ago I was just feeling really sad and mechanically churning through every day. but it has passed a lot recently and I feel happy now, not really for any specific reason, though I know exercise has helped me a bit.

Ronan, Friday, 21 September 2007 13:33 (sixteen years ago) link

It's always thrilling to see big cruise ships off the shore here, even though they're nowhere near as grand as the QE2. I didn't see one this year.
